POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The need we witnessed at our last community giveaway was truly humbling. Seeing how many individuals and families came out for clothing, toiletries, food, and other basic necessities reminded us just how important it is to continue showing up for our community. The need was so great that Sisters of Purpose Enterprise, Inc. is preparing to do it again this October.🧡

Sisters of Purpose Enterprise, Inc. (SOP) is a Durham-based nonprofit committed to empowering young women through financial literacy, mentorship, leadership development, career readiness, and community service. We also remain active in serving our broader community through clothing giveaways, food distributions, hygiene support, and outreach to individuals and families experiencing hardship.

As we prepare for our October outreach, we are grateful for volunteers, community partners, donated goods, and resources that can help us serve even more people. Current needs include new or gently used coats, blankets, hats, gloves, toiletries, nonperishable food items, gift cards, and other essential items that can directly support those in need.

One lesson we continue to stand by is this: build genuine relationships before you need something.Strong community partnerships are created through consistency, collaboration, and showing up for others—not only when your organization needs assistance.

We would love to connect with nonprofits, businesses, churches, organizations, and community members who believe in service and collective impact. Together, we can continue meeting people where they are and making a meaningful difference. 🧡

Today’s event was a SUCCESS! 🧡

From setup until the very end of the giveaway, we were truly blessed with support. The community showed up and showed OUT, and we could not be more thankful. Our goal was to leave with nothing—and that is exactly what happened. A TOTAL GIVEAWAY! 🙌🏽

It is a true blessing to be a blessing, and that is exactly what we experienced today. When you meet someone who took public transportation just to attend your event, it humbles you. It reminds you that every opportunity to serve is also an opportunity to fellowship with humility, gratitude, and PURPOSE.

Today was a collective collaboration of community members, organizations, volunteers, supporters, families, and friends who came together intentionally to make a difference. We are grateful for every person who participated through their presence, spirit, donations, promotion, encouragement, and intentional support.

Because of YOU, our community was served with love and purpose. We look forward to continuing to show up, give back, and serve our community again.

Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU! 🧡

Today’s Back-to-School Giveaway at Merrick-Moore Park in partnership with The SMAC Movement and Sisters of Purpose, was truly fulfilling, eventful, and impactful! 🎒📚💙

What made today even more special was seeing our community come together in so many different ways. Sisters of Purpose members and scholars had the opportunity to connect with community members, local business owners, church members, volunteers, and other leaders who believe in pouring into our youth.

Today was about so much more than giving away school supplies. It was about building relationships, creating connections, encouraging our young people, and showing them what community support looks like in action.

The Back-to-School Giveaway reminded us that our community doesn’t just show out — we SHOW UP when literacy, leadership, mentorship, and sponsorship matter.🙌🏾

We are grateful to everyone who donated, volunteered, partnered, networked, shared resources, and simply came out to support. When organizations and community leaders work together with a common purpose, the impact reaches far beyond one event.

What an AWESOME day at Merrick-Moore Park! 🧡🤎

This month’s Sisters of Purpose lesson was Build Credit with Character! 🤎🧡💛

Our scholars learned how responsible financial habits, integrity, and thoughtful decision-making can help build and maintain strong credit. Each scholar also completed the Credit Habits Pledge, committing to making informed and responsible financial choices.

A special thank-you to SOP member Ivy Jones, MPA, for leading this valuable and empowering session!

Yesterday’s session, “Banking Like a Pro,” was led by our amazing mentor, Angela Starks, and what an impactful experience it was for our Young Scholars! 💳📚

There is something truly special about watching our girls not only process the information being taught but begin making it applicable to their everyday lives. Real learning happens when knowledge turns into understanding—and understanding turns into action.
One of the most eye-opening moments of the session was our discussion on Gross Pay vs. Net Pay 💵. The reality of seeing the difference between what you earn and what you actually take home sparked meaningful conversations, thoughtful questions, and a level of maturity that many of us had to learn through life experience.

At Sisters of Purpose, we believe financial literacy is empowerment. We are planting seeds of wisdom, responsibility, and confidence so our Young Scholars can make informed financial decisions and build strong futures.

A huge thank you to Mentors Angela Starks & Emaje Singleton-Jackson for leading with knowledge, patience, and purpose. 💛🤎

🚨 Not all need is visible.

In communities across the country, there are young girls who are excelling academically, showing leadership potential, and doing everything that’s expected of them…
And yet—many of them are navigating pressure, isolation, and the weight of constant excellence alone.

At Sisters of Purpose, Inc., we intentionally serve these girls.

While many programs focus on visible challenges (which are absolutely important), we focus on a different gap—high-achieving girls who are often overlooked because they appear to be “doing well.”

But here’s the truth:
✨ Excellence comes with pressure
✨ Achievement can come with isolation
✨ And high performance does not eliminate the need for support

Through mentorship, financial literacy, leadership development, and real-world experiences, we are creating a space where these young scholars are:
✔️ Seen beyond their grades
✔️ Heard beyond expectations
✔️ Supported beyond performance

We are not excluding—we are specializing.
And we’re building something meaningful.
If you believe in investing in the next generation of confident, capable young women, I invite you to connect, partner, or support our mission.

Because when we support girls who are carrying the weight of excellence…
we strengthen entire communities.
