POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

In just a few hours, we'll unveil Something About Money in our first preview! (Plus enjoy a little Central New York fall foliage!)

There's still some work to do before our official opening on Friday, but with a team as strong as this one, I'm confident that we'll be ready!

And I want to take a moment to thank everyone with us in Ithaca who has given their hard work to get us where we are:

The design and production team: Kyle Stamm (lighting design), Chris Lane and Donovan Lewis (sound design), Alexander Woodward (set design), Elizabeth Kitney (props and costume design), Priscilla Hummel (choreography) Jennifer Schilansky (stage manager), Anna Riley (assistant stage manager), Sophie Diehl (scenic charge) and Isadora Martinez (head electrician)

AND the entire Kitchen Theatre Company team: Emily Jackson, Ben Hummel, Rebecca Miller, Brendan Komala, Abagail Francis and Gwyneth Cole!

And, of course, to Alexander Thomas, the writer and performer - what a gift to create work with you.

Thank you one and all. It takes a village.

In the summer of 2024, Alex Thomas asked me if he could share some disparate monologues and sketches from his "money" file, a collection that had been building for a couple of decades, to see if I thought we might be able to build a piece of theater from them.

I did.

We started off with regular meetings and rehearsals, a LAB residency and additional showings in Berlin. We experimented with structure, Alex wrote reams of new content, we devised, revised, deleted, expanded and let the piece tell us what it ultimately wanted to be.

More than two years of hard work later, the world premiere of Something About Money is opening at Kitchen Theatre Company, in collaboration with English Theatre Berlin | International Performing Arts Center, following additional support from Talk Is Free Theatre in Ontario.

Thank you to Emily Jackson and Kitchen Theatre Company for being one of the most welcoming places I have ever had the privilege of working at.

Thank you to the design and production team (Alexander Woodward on sets, Elizabeth Kitney on costumes and props, Kyle Stamm on lights, Chris Lane and Donovan Lewis on sound, Priscilla Hummel for choreography, Jennifer Schilansky for stage management, Anna Riley for assistant stage management, plus Brendan Komala for technical direction, Sophie Diehl for scenic charge work and Isadora Martinez on electrics).

(Thanks to Alexander Woodward for the photos I'm using here - the official production photos by Rachel Philipson are glamming up Kitchen Theatre Company's website: https://www.kitchentheatre.org/somethingaboutmoney).

I head back to Berlin tomorrow, Alex and the show are in Ithaca through October 25.

I'd love for you to see our work, if you're in Central New York (and heck, it's peak leaf season, a fine time for a drive)!

This is what gratitude feels like.
