🎊 Huge congratulations to all the artists and organizers who brought @bronxmuseum’s fall 2026 exhibitions to life 🐣 It was so beautiful to see everything and everyone come together at the Museum last Friday, October 9 to celebrate the opening of these four exciting projects:

➡️ @sayawoolfalkstudio’s ‘The WoodsWoman Method’ - featuring Woolfalk’s process materials from her ongoing ‘WoodsWoman project - which will inform the artist’s inaugural installation for @bronxmuseum’s renovated main lobby opening in 2027 - alongside works from @bronxmuseum’s permanent collection that explore related themes including the cosmos, human/nature relationships, and storytelling 🌌

➡️ ‘Beyond the Margins:’ Bronx Museum Teens Activate the Permanent Collection is an exhibition collaboratively curated by the 14 NYC high school students who participated in the summer 2026 session of @bronxmuseum’s teen program - a paid arts internship that engages local youth in art-making and the museum space 👩‍🎓

➡️ Artist-in-residence with @nyculture & @nycdhs, @_alex_strada, partnered with @bronxmuseum & @storefrontnyc for The Bronx borough presentation of ‘Public Address’ - her New York City-wide project platforming the log entries of people living and working in shelters on official signage produced by @nyc_dot. A central installation of signs is located one block south of @bronxmuseum at Joyce Kilmer Park, with additional signs in every community board district of the borough, including at the Museum 🚏

➡️ ‘Transcending the Form: Abstract Figurative Painting’ showcases the work of artists participating in @bronxmuseum’s Lifelong Studio program - free intensive art-making experiences for adults 55 and older 🎨

Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to and supported these projects! And stay tuned for related programming - new free events are being constantly added to @bronxmuseum’s calendar with info available at bronxmuseum.org/events 🤩

Perspectives of people living and working in shelters — Public Address by Alex Strada at Joyce Kilmer Park.

I love how this artwork has moved across the city and has additional signage throughout the Bronx. The signage being made by @nyc_dot calls into question how infrastructure can be reimagined to foster broader dialogues about housing, homelessness, and other social issues.

Join us at @bronxmuseum this Friday, October 9 from 6-8 PM to celebrate our fall 2026 exhibitions, including artist @_alex_strada’s project ‘Public Address’ - which you may have heard about in a recent report from @allofitwnyc with @iamalisonstewart!

A citywide project that platforms the log writings of people living in and working in NYC shelters on official signage produced by @nyc_dot, ‘Public Address’ debuted in Manhattan in 2024 before traveling to Brooklyn. Following its presentation in The Bronx this fall, ‘Public Address’ will appear on Staten Island then make a final stop in Flushing Meadows in partnership with @queensmuseum.

@bronxmuseum partnered with @_alex_strada, @storefrontnyc, @nyculture, and @nycdhs to bring ‘Public Address’ to The Bronx - the borough with the highest number of shelters in NYC.

Since mid-September, a central installation of signs has been on view at Joyce Kilmer Park, one block south of @bronxmuseum on Grand Concourse. Additional signs can be found in public spaces of every community board district in The Bronx.

An additional component of ‘Public Address, goes on view at @bronxmuseum this Friday alongside three other exhibitions: ‘Saya Woolfalk: The WoodsWoman Method’, ‘Beyond the Margins: Bronx Museum Teens Activate the Permanent Collection’, and ‘Lifelong Studio: Transcending the Form - Abstract Figurative Painting’. Learn more about the exhibitions and RSVP to the opening celebration this Friday via the link in @bronxmuseum’s bio 🔗 🥳

An alum of @bronxmuseum’s AIM Fellowship - our prestigious career accelerator program for talented rising artists based in NYC - @sayawoolfalkstudio will present ‘The Woods Woman Method’ this fall, sharing process materials from her WoodsWoman project alongside works from the Museum’s permanent collection.

The ‘WoodsWoman’ project will inform the artist’s inaugural commission for the Museum’s new main lobby (made possible, in part, by @viaartfund), which is currently under renovation and expected to open in 2027!

Woolfalk has also collaborated with Director of Curatorial Programs @eileenj8 to apply the lens of the WoodsWoman to the Museum’s permanent collection, selecting works by artists including Huma Bhabha, Robert Blackburn, and Martin Wong that explore speculative worlds, the relationship between humans and nature, and forms of collective storytelling. This exhibition also kicks off a new series of artist activations of the Museum’s permanent collection.

SIDE NOTE: The application for @bronxmuseum’s 2027 AIM Fellowship is now open through October 25!

The 14 NYC high school students who participated in @bronxmuseum’s Teen Summer 2026 session - a program that pays participants to engage with art-making and museums - collaboratively curated an exhibition of works from the Museum’s permanent collection exploring how artists use their work as a form of resistance.

This activation, along with ‘Saya Woolfalk: The WoodsWoman Method’ coincide with @bronxmuseum’s ongoing efforts to digitize our permanent collection with support from a @bloombergdotorg Digital Accelerator grant. For the first time, comprehensive records for permanent collections works including in these two exhibitions will be made available online - expanding access beyond the

The words of New Yorkers living and working in shelters are coming into public view across the Bronx.

Beginning September 14, Alex Strada’s Public Address will display handwritten entries and drawings from shelter residents and staff on aluminum signs fabricated by the NYC Department of Transportation.

A central installation will stand at Joyce Kilmer Park, with smaller signs appearing at The Bronx Museum and in every Bronx community board district.

More than 400 shelter residents and staff have contributed to the project through workshops held in dozens of NYC shelters.

The Bronx Museum and Storefront for Art and Architecture will hold a free public program at Joyce Kilmer Park on Sept. 23 from 5 to 7 p.m.

@bronxmuseum presents The Bronx iteration of Alex Strada’s “Public Address,” opening September 14.

Developed through more than four years of collaborative workshops in shelters across New York City, the project transposes handwritten reflections from homeless shelter residents and staff onto street signs fabricated by the NYC Department of Transportation.

A central installation will be on view at Joyce Kilmer Park, just steps from The Bronx Museum, with additional signs appearing throughout the borough.

Join The Bronx Museum on September 23 from 5–7 PM for Meet Me At The Park: Public Address, a free gathering at Joyce Kilmer Park with Alex Strada, participating organizations, and city officials.

Presented by The Bronx Museum and Storefront for Art and Architecture in partnership with the NYC Department of Homeless Services and NYC Department of Cultural Affairs.
