I consider myself to be good at sharing. Sharing food, sharing clothes, sharing a car with my brother, sharing myself; my time, my nursing self.

I'm quite an open person. I'll tell truthfully 'how I am' to anyone who asks. But often they're not truly asking, it's an obligatory, knee jerk, almost rhetorical question, where the only acceptable answer is 'good, you?' When I share my feelings with those who are not genuinely interested in my response I suffer from a vulnerability hangover - doubting myself, doubting my feelings.

In December I attended a Healing the Heart Retreat lead by Rachel Brathen& Shubhaa Fisher. During the retreat I was allowed to share - from the heart - in all its sobbing, sweaty rawness. This time with no hangover. I was supported, held by a group of incredible women to listened - from the heart - and who dared to share too.

During this week I found my people. True connection. I stepped out of my comfort zone, into a safe space where I was seen and accepted. We danced, laughed, sweat, shook, sobbed, screamed, sung, ate, flowed and grew together.

I'm eternally grateful for every single one of these women. Grateful for this experience.
