🎭🎶 Meet the performers taking the stage at the 2026 Annual Meeting & Arts Party! We’re officially less than ONE WEEK AWAY from the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance’s biggest annual gathering of the creative sector, and we’re thrilled to share this year’s incredible lineup. On Tuesday, October 13, join us at the Independence Seaport Museum for an evening celebrating Greater Philadelphia’s artistry, history, and creative spirit under this year’s theme, Anchoring Histories, Navigating Futures. This year's performances are curated by @_artphilly and feature: ✨ @germaine.ingram.708 will perform “Body Move,” an excerpt from Dinner with Dinah, an immersive work created by @trapetam centering Dinah, an African-descended woman enslaved at Stenton Mansion in Germantown in the 18th century. 🎤 @laurintalese + @misterweebles will bring their acclaimed artistry to the stage, pairing Talese’s award-winning vocals and storytelling with Bernhard’s dynamic musicianship and genre-spanning sound. 🎧 And DJ @lildave215 will keep the Arts Party moving with an eclectic mix of soul, hip-hop, house, broken beat, funk, and rare groove. And the celebration doesn’t stop there. Stay for music, networking, a beer and wine bar, and an Oktoberfest-inspired spread with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. 📅 Tuesday, October 13, 2026 ⏰ 6–10 PM 📍 Independence Seaport Museum 🎟️ GPCA Members: $30 | Non-Members: $60 👗 Creative Business Casual | 21+ Come for the performances. Call to artists!! Pics from previous winter shows in no particular order (yes including Crusher, people loving art, and that time someone drove into our building…yikes!!) The winter show application is open and submissions have been coming in. 2026 will be our 11th winter group show. They’re all different and we can’t properly explain how special they are. If you’re an artist, or you know a great artist, it’s time to show us your best work. This is the show people rave about and come for every year. Last year’s show sold about 70 original wall-hanging/sculptural works plus loads of pottery, jewelry, blown glass, notecards, ornaments, and more. We can’t wait to see your work!! Feel free to share this post with your artist friends and arts orgs:) #callforartists #exhibitbgallery #souderton #groupshows #opencall

Over the last few months, NKCDC and partners, including Rewilding Philadelphia, artist and educator Pedro Ospina (@theopenkitchensculpturegarden), @acadnatsci, @muralartsphiladelphia, and Natural Urban Forests (@naturalurbanforests), have been engaging Kensington residents in imagining and designing a new pocket forest that will be planted at the Jasper Street Greenspace on October 24th. We want you to join us! The Jasper Street Greenspace is a former industrial site turned greenspace located along the Conrail tracks. Like many post-industrial sites, making any plans for the space requires thoughtful planning, partnerships with expertise, and resident input to safely bring the space back for human use and to remediate and heal the land. As part of this process, we've been working with environmental partners to test the soil onsite to better understand the site's history and soil conditions. Any designs and implemented plans will consider the site's industrial history for the safety of plants and people. Planting a Pocket Forest on the site will provide an opportunity for afforestation. Using the Miyawaki method for rapid native forest creation, ten years after the planting, the site will mature into a cool, shady, dense, and biodiverse public space teeming with life, enhancing an already existing native plant haven occupying part of the space! Are you interested in caring for plants and a community greenspace? There are still opportunities to get involved with restoring and healing the Jasper Street Greenspace in Kensington: - On October 21st, we’ll be hosting a community volunteer day! Help us rake and shovel the site to prep it for planting day! - On October 23rd, there will be an opportunity for kids to volunteer at the space as we finalize the prep for planting day! - Join us for a planting day on October 24th! RSVP here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdoLL7SwRaOqZFi1ImYboD_pzTBrKq9JYXpdiSB8RjGc-8Eww/viewform (link in bio) Come help us plant 1,500+ native trees! Join us for food, live drumming, art, and native plant education! Questions? Email urbanag@nkcdc.org!
