📹 3 year MFA in film directing complete ✔️moved west to study at usc school of cinematic arts in the film & tv production on the Directing track, with secondary focus in Production Design and Virtual Production (unreal engine, mocap, LED volume 🤓). Had the opportunity to work on 75+ sets and write/direct 15 films (mythic queer surrealist horror/sci fi/hallucinogenic/dance films ofc), and learned more than I could have possibly imagined. I was also challenged astronomically, all while negotiating the violence inside and outside the institution, and the deterioration of humanity amidst the ongoing genoc1d3s in G@za and Sud@n and the us and around the globe. However, I have the most loving community I could dream of who rooted and uplifted me for all the highs and the absolute lows. Sharing a glimpse of some of the angels that made it possible (but 20 photos and 20 tags is not enough!!!!). Cannot wait to share what my loved ones and I have made together over these years. I feel confident it was all worth it. Now the next chapter begins 💗 Photo of me on set for ELIXIR by the incredible @karimelalfy_ The Luminaries of Undan from my MFA thesis ELIXIR @taste_the_elixir …. Cannot wait for you to see these rockstars. With National Dance Project support, these 30 projects (post 1/2) will tour. Congratulations to all of the recipients and the finalists! NDP Advisors selected these projects from a competitive pool of 280 applicants from 34 states, as well as Washington, D.C. and Guam. Throughout the entire process, NDP Advisors remained grounded in the program criteria while uplifting representation across traditional and new dance forms and aesthetics, rigorous study/research, earnest storytelling, and commitments to community mobilization. It is because of their diligent work and care that we have a diverse cohort of grantees and finalists that reflect and strengthen the cultural and aesthetic diversities of today’s dance field. 📖 read more at the link in our bio. 7NMS/Marjani Forte-Saunders. Excited for this one! 🔥 “Dom! How was burning man, how were your sets?!” 🎧 🙌🏾 Y’all, I had a blast! DJ’d on an art car, in the middle of a white out. 🌪️ Brought some deep love and intention for us to move and connect with our bodies and one another on the playa. ✨ 📝 I’ll come around to a proper reflection of this year’s burn and all the lessons. For now, check out some of these videos. 🎥 🚨 Come out this Saturday 9/19 for my @sxtps.exe debut! 💃🏾 We’re gonna be moving and groovin. Bring a fan, hydrate💧, and come ready to DANCE! 🕺🏾 🎟️ Grab your ticket and see you on the dance floor. Theme is Jungala! 🌿🐆 Bring your best jungle fit. Myself @bigworldlittlekidd and @ashleyyounnia curating the soundscape 🔊 — you don’t want to miss this!! 🙏🏾
