Plot twist: the groom was helping me film the bride’s interview, and neither of them told me. 😂

I was filming an interview at church when I noticed Cynthia’s engagement ring. While chatting and helping her feel comfortable on camera, I asked whether her fiancé attended the same church.

She said yes, but she would not tell me who he was. So naturally, I decided I would find him myself.

The entire time, Ebube, the man helping me with the interview, stood right there and played along. I even asked him how he could be on the same team as her and not know who she was engaged to. He claimed he had no idea.

Before we continued, I showed Cynthia my wedding photography page and told her to send it to her fiancé if they had not chosen a photographer yet. She said she would add me to their research list.

Then Sunday came.

Ebube opened his phone to show me something, and a message from a contact saved as “Iyawo mi” appeared with Cynthia’s picture.

I looked at the phone. Then I looked at him.

“So... YOU are the fiancé?”

What began as a funny conversation during a church interview eventually led to me photographing their wedding.

Sometimes your clients find you through an inquiry form. Sometimes the groom is sitting right in front of you, pretending to help you find himself. 😂

One month ago today, I married my best friend. 🤍

Also… if you make it to slide 8, you’ll find the marriage license where I confidently wrote my full name instead of my signature. Safe to say I was a little nervous. 😂🤣
