I am pleased to announce my exhibition ‘Ambulation’ opening this Saturday at @_escolar_ in Santa Rosa.

“Ambulation evokes international maritime flag signals and REAL identification card landscapes inside Escolar’s shipping container, resting on-site the redwood
coast of California. Using these two materials and terminals of American travel, the work explores how we might try to enter, feel, and depart from the abstractions that harm and restrict our movements together.”

This past Saturday, my show at Escolar, Lifeworld, closed. Here are some images I shot during its final hours.

I’m so grateful to Nathan for the invitation and for his work putting the show and the screening together, as well as the wonderful time spent with him, Danni, Lee, Ian, Laeh, Perry, and Ben.

Two North Bay alternative art spaces, Le Shed and Escolar, were invited to present work at Atrium Art Fair in San Francisco. The wildly well attended event was held at Minnesota Street Project, a large art center with below market rents geared toward encouraging opportunities for galleries and artists. In addition to the many galleries from around the Bay (and some from further a field), artist Jonathan Runcio created an umbrella project called Skylight Above. Upstairs he curated 13 art spaces that may not have a traditional commercial gallery presence. They showed a number of emerging to mid-career artists.

When North Bay Arts arrived a line was formed outside, and people were allowed in based on the number of people that left. There was animated excitement about the show, and a significant crossover with FOG Art Fair attendees. The large atrium of Minnesota Street Project, which is usually a vast open space, was filled with stalls in the traditional art fair style. People from all walks of life chatted and bumped into each other. Waitstaff took away trays of empty drinks, the source of which remained a mystery to most. The quality and variety of work on display was impressive. It would be hard to imagine a better outcome. This was the kind of art experience that people crave, and that feeds a wide swath of community.
