Straw, paper and a little folk-art magic!

We’re delighted to welcome Karolina Merska of Folka to this year’s Bloomsbury Jamboree. Folka celebrates Polish folk art alongside contemporary craft and one-of-a-kind finds.

Karolina creates pająki—traditional Polish hanging decorations made from straw and paper. Colourful and intricate, they’re a beautiful example of the folk traditions Folka brings to life.

The fair runs across the weekend, and Karolina will be joining us on Saturday 14 November. There’s a fabulous line-up of speakers, too—explore the programme and book your tickets via Eventbrite. Link in bio.

September was pretty wild ❤️ (It’s already a week into October oops) - lots of work all of a sudden requiring lots of brain cells, beautiful people moments, survival foods, just attempting to be well, rereading some favourites, sending fresh pieces out to new stockists, my dad working hard on his cars + motorcycles, dzięki!🌻🌻🌻

It’s no surprise we love a bit of folk art on here. We have had a little flock of updates for Folka who curate one of a kind pieces from Poland. Those last two make me smile. Links on images (George)

I loved to see a Polish stall @_folka_ at the @museumofthehome #folk festival market showcasing traditional crafts among little curious bread sculptures.

Documentation of the Craft Days exhibition at Gawroński Villa, organized by Visteria Foundation.

The first edition of Craft Days is a story about the heritage of Polish basket weaving and its conttinuing relevance today. It traces contemporary interpretations of weaving in art and design across Poland and Ukraine, while dissolving the boundaries that traditionally separate art, design, and craft.

Exhibition Concept: Eleonora Bojanowska @elleonoranora, Szymon Machnikowski @szymonmach, Hanna Rydlewska @haniarydlewska

Exhibition Design: Anna Szczęsny @anna_szczesny_ , Bartosz Brylewski @bartbrylew

Producer: Royal Heroes @royal__heroes

Craft Days - a celebration of Polish basketry showed that by turning to our craft traditions, we can discover new ways of creating, thinking and perceiving. 🧺🤍

This exhibition gave me hope that our craft heritage with its rich amount of techniques and knowledge can be a source of inspiration for contemporary practice. I look forward to seeing more designers exploring and reinterpreting our traditions and for the World to see it!

The inscription of basketry weaving on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list feels like an important step, and hopefully just a beginning of a broader recognition of the value of the craft and knowledge it carries.

Thank you @visteria.foundation @elleonoranora @haniarydlewska for creating this beautiful exhibition and for inviting me to be a part of it with my work „It’s not me, It’s We” and be among other talented creators 🤍

A ja dodaję jeszcze kilka ujęć Edwarda z wystawy. Przyznajcie: wyjątkowo fotogenicznej… @visteria.foundation @vogue.polska.living #craftdays
