Your first birthday without you here. Almost a year later and I’m still figuring out how to navigate that.

My father. My hero. My teacher. I’m still learning from you, even now.

I miss you more than I can express in words but I’m gonna find my peace, Inshallah. Rest well and know that I still got you. The struggle continues, and the promises I made still stand.

May Allah grant you a spacious grave, peace, and the highest rank in Jannah. Ameen.

Some of the main topics of conversation between my father and me, aside from basketball #BallIsLife 😂, were self-discipline, community, and personal development.

What happened in the past.
What went right.
What went wrong.
Leadership criteria.
And what it would actually take to build something stronger moving forward.

Those conversations changed as I got older and gained enough experience to better understand what he was trying to impart.

One lesson has become especially clear:

We cannot build thriving communities without developing the builders first.

That’s why so much of what I’m working on these days centers around personal, physical, and economic growth.

Not because personal success is the end goal,

But because disciplined, well-rounded individuals are better equipped to build strong families, sustainable institutions, and thriving communities.

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what that looks like in practice.

Now I’m ready to see it in action. Again, we are just getting started.

So…before I pop back up talking about business, community building, and personal, physical and economic development like life hasn’t been LIFE-ING 😂, I wanted to tell y’all where I’ve been.

The last year has forced me to process more than I was honestly prepared for.

Losing my father.
Fighting for him up to and through his death
Seeing relationships and people differently.
Reconciling what I believed with what people actually showed me.
And learning that grief isn’t just sadness. Sometimes it’s anger, disappointment, clarity, gratitude, exhaustion, and growth all occupying the same space.

I’m still working through it. I probably will be for a long time.

But I’m here.

Still creating. Still building. Still fighting. Still finding reasons to laugh. Still trying to turn everything I’ve experienced into something meaningful.

This video is not a request for sympathy. I’m doing ok, I promise. Just an honest update for the people who care about…me 🙏🏽

Ok 😮‍💨, Now that I’ve cleared my chest a little, we can get back to the regularly scheduled programming 😌

I have a lot to share with y’all.

Today begins Black August—a month of remembrance, discipline, political education, and resistance rooted in the legacy of Black and New Afrikan Freedom Fighters.

Black August is observed through study, self-discipline, physical training, community building, and acts of solidarity. It is a time to deepen our understanding of the struggle for self-determination while honoring those who sacrificed their lives and those who continue to sacrifice their freedom. Support our political prisoners, including long-held revolutionary journalist and Black Panther Party veteran Mumia Abu-Jamal. Read. Organize. Join an organization or study group. Build community.

Yusuf was framed. Imprisoned. Forgotten by the system.
But prison didn’t break him. It built him.

How many people do we know right now sitting behind bars for crimes they didn’t commit?

Growing up in Atlanta, I was raised by Imam Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin, a man who maintained his innocence until his death in prison. He used to tell me prison was “the University of Yusuf.”

Because like Yusuf, when you’ve lived through injustice in practice, not just in theory, you learn that pain can either destroy you or prepare you.

Don’t let corruption stop you from pursuing power. Change the system from the inside out.

I enjoyed partaking in the 404 Day Festivities but can’t let this weekend go by without showing immense gratitude for the elders who’ve sacrificed their lives to protect and preserve our Civil Rights, Culture and City.

People travel from all over the world to come right in our backyard to visit @thekingcenter and more on Historic Auburn Ave.

Elders like 98 year old Mrs. Xernona Clayton who was a key Organizer in the Civil Rights Movement.

@werdstudioatl @werdstudio The first Black Radio Station operated by the flyest Cat on Auburn, Mr.Resse

and of course @_freeimamjamil , who was a vital part of the Civil Rights Movement (the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee), who also took initiative to pour into the West End that you all know and love today.

May their legacies live on and we never loose sight of our “ Why”.
