.

Throughout this series, we’ve talked about water, biodiversity, technology, course maintenance and everything that happens behind the scenes of a golf course. But at La Finca Golf, sustainability also means looking at how we move around, how we use energy and how we make our operations more efficient.

We are moving towards more sustainable mobility with electric company vehicles, as well as introducing new solutions to reduce energy consumption and noise.

Technology also allows us to work with greater precision: our precision-guided mowing system reduces overlap by up to 15%, saving time, fuel and emissions.

And we continue to invest in renewable energy, with the installation of new solar panels.

Sustainability is not about one single action. It is an ongoing commitment to evolving the course.

Is Sotogrande Spain’s ultimate golf destination?

We sent @StephenWarnock3 to go and find out by visiting this stunning private estate between Gibraltar and Marbella. Tough job, but someone has to do it.

The beautiful @lareservaclub_sotogrande was a real highlight, an immaculate golf course from 1st tee to 18th green. Quick, contoured greens, beautiful conditioning throughout and some real standout holes. Not least the par 4 8th, stroke index 1, which features water all the way down right. Stephen hit a 230-yard five-wood approach to 7ft. If only golf was always that easy!

He got to play six holes with Manuel Piñero, a key man in the era-defining European Ryder Cup team at The Belfry in 1985. Not only did Manuel design the new par-3 course @thealtogolfclub , he was fantastic company and regaled us with stories of Seve in his pomp. “If Seve was on it? Forget it.”

Stephen also visited @suzannpettersen’s incredible new academy @thealtogolfclub, chilled out at a beach club with no sea, and enjoyed long lunches and sunsets over the Mediterranean from the ultimate base at the sumptuous @so_sotogrande . When you add it all up, you quickly begin to see why people come to Sotogrande and never leave.

The full story, including where to stay and how to get there, is on the site.

Water is one of the biggest challenges facing golf. It is also an essential part of the experience on the course.

At La Finca Golf, we use 100% reclaimed water, together with moisture sensors, a weather station and advanced irrigation software to determine when, where and how much to irrigate.

Improvements to our irrigation system have also helped us save more than 10% of our water, while reducing the area of irrigated turf by more than 13 hectares has further reduced our irrigation needs.

Managing every drop responsibly also means looking after the course you want to keep playing today, tomorrow and for years to come.

Old Petty ✅

What an outstanding addition to the property at @cabothighlands

Complimenting Castle Stuart so well and it amazes me what you can do with a piece of land when the right people are involved. 🤌🤌

Stunning views everywhere you look and a super layout. Going to struggle to find a better 36 hole venue for me and one of the best half way houses ever. 😍

Cabot Highland you were perfect. ⛳❤️⛳

What you see on the green is only part of all the work that goes on behind the scenes.

Before you arrive at the course, there is a team observing, measuring and making decisions to ensure every playing surface is in the best possible condition.

At La Finca Golf, we use data and technology to analyse the speed, firmness, moisture and smoothness of our greens, looking for the right balance between quality, consistency and responsible water use.

Using the GS3 ball allows us to better understand what is happening beneath our feet and make more precise decisions about course maintenance.

Because when the green responds as you expect, you play with greater confidence, stay focused on the shot and simply enjoy the game more.

Sotogrande… you really are a golfer’s paradise. 🇪🇸⛳️🔥

Three days, some incredible golf courses, Ryder Cup stories, a few legends of the game… and even a bit of fog thrown in for good measure! 😂

We started at the stunning @so_sotogrande before getting the chance to play @lareservaclub_sotogrande. I’d played La Reserva about four years ago and had forgotten just how brilliant it is. A stunning design, in incredible condition and so well presented. 👌🏻🔥

A real highlight was getting the opportunity to play alongside former Ryder Cup player @_manuelpinero and listen to some of his amazing stories from the game. He also talked us through his design of the fantastic Par 3 course at Alto Club. 👏🏻👏🏻

Also on site was @suzannpettersen, who has her own academy and is doing some brilliant work helping develop the next generation of female golfers from all over the world. 🙌🏻🔥

The final day took us to @thealtogolfclub. Unfortunately, the fog rolled in, which wasn’t ideal! 🌫️😂 But we did manage to get out and play the back nine, which was beautiful. Definitely one I’d love to go back to and play the full 18.

A massive thanks to @thewanderinggolfers for the invite and to @_gmsagency_ for the fantastic hospitality and organisation throughout the trip. 👏🏻

Sotogrande, I’ll definitely be back. 🇪🇸⛳️
