The privilege of the lifetime 🩵

Watching the matriarch of the orca pod leave her family and swim over to whip the bait ball into shape and check us out. She spent about a couple of minutes circling the herring and coming in close to each of our divers, before returning to her pod.

We were absolutely spoiled on the first water day of our Norway orca swimming expedition 🥹🥹

Seeing orcas in the wild was always a dream for me, and it’s the same for every one of our guests. Being in this otherworldly, magical, icy landscape is moving on so many levels. On a personal note, Arctic Norway has been a feature in my imagination and memory for decades, and I still can’t believe my work has brought me here again. For almost everyone who visits, this place feels like you’ve left earth altogether and joined a different dimension. Forever grateful for these alive moments we’ll remember for the rest of our lives.

We have an ocean biologist on board, we don’t chase, we stay longer than one day, we don’t interrupt and always keep a respectful distance and let the orcas come to us if they feel like it.
The animal’s welfare is ALWAYS priority number one and comes above pretty insta shots or once in a life time human encounters
If we want to preserve our planet, we HAVE TO put our wishes second, afterall we are the biggest predators on earth. Please please please don’t let them pay the price they didn’t sign up for ♥️

This particular day, the sun broke through the surface just as an orca passed above a swirling school of herring.

Somehow humbling and heartwarming and adrenaline inducing and exciting all at the same time.
A little snippet from last year while I am packing my bags right now and dying of jealousy of the rest of the @_heyorca_ team who arrived last week and have a whole other trip before I land- looks like an insane season so far (or maybe we just have amazing guides??)

For a week I’ve been back in the northern fjords of Norway.

What an absolutely incredible start to the season! Our first week has been a blast… Long days, lots of hard work, big smiles, and some truly unforgettable in-water encounters with these beautiful souls of the ocean.

There’s nothing quite like being back in the Arctic, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, watching the orcas return and sharing the water with them again.

We’re only just getting started!
