Words cannot even describe what this story means to me. After working so many summers as a waiter, I wanted to make something that gave everyone in food service their flowers. I truly think this film can accomplish that, and I couldn’t be any more grateful.

To my star-studded cast, thank you for coming along with me on this journey. These characters only existed on the page until you brought them all to life. In “Sweet Like Mango” a career-driven rapper, Yuri, moves back home in attempt to mend the family bonds he broke when he moved away to follow his dreams. With growing tensions between him and his sister, Yolanda, he feels a duty to encourage his niece’s creativity. His efforts are met with great resistance from Yolanda who doesn’t want her daughter to follow the same isolated path that he did.

Sweet like Mango is directed by Victoria J. Smith and Assistant Directed by Izzy Conklin
