Finally home after five days in Arles at the @rencontresarles. Such an incredible two weeks of art, community, and inspiring conversations between this and the Experimental Photo Festival. Thanks to @_irinachernikova_ for being a wonderful host with a goth soundtrack, and to @kehrenbarbour for sharing one last night of the terrarium that is Barcelona in August with me. Feeling very lucky and grateful and full of inspiration.

Today we present the work of Irina Chernikova @_irinachernikova_ The contemporary photographer Irina Chernikova is featured in an interview as part of our new Dialogues section. Irina Chernikova is a self-taught photographer and interdisciplinary artist whose practice bridges analog and digital techniques. Through deconstruction and reconstruction, her work interprets reality in a creative way - sometimes reflecting the world as we know it, and at other times, conjuring entirely new visual languages. Irina's work has been exhibited in solo and group shows, as well as festivals worldwide. Beyond her artistic practice, Irina is a passionate educator, having led numerous virtual and in-person workshops. In the San Francisco Bay Area, she founded and nurtured a vibrant community of over 1,000 film photographers through Meetup, organizing photo walks since 2016 and mentoring others to lead their own. Since relocating to France in July 2025, she is exploring the creation of a new community dedicated to photography, continuing her commitment to fostering artistic growth and connection. We are so happy to announce the release of our 1th issue of LUCIDA Photo Magazine! In our first issue, weโ€™re excited to showcase seven artists who break away from the norm.
