Jesse Groom

Is a New York-based designer whose work straddles the worlds of furniture design and sculptural craft. Using found and industrial materials, Groom constructs visceral assemblages that suggest imperfect hybrid forms made from resourceful experimentation and formal detours. His work frequently evokes the tension between normative function and vernacular gestures of freedom.

His ongoing Cicatrix series—including chairs, lamps, and furniture—involves intense metal work constructed by covering aluminum frames with countless filler rods to create what Groom describes as self-forming objects that are the “epitome of the Greek philosophical concept known as techne: learning by doing, being by doing. Cicatrix praises the scars of practice and process.”

On view and available for purchase at Show: Room is Jesse’s floor lamp titled “As it Ceases To Exist”

Many of Hot Phenomena’s designers use extreme heat as a core catalyst of their practice; glazing & firing clay, sculpting glass & bioplastics, treating textiles, and forging metal.

CSW Designs

creates bespoke furniture locally in Germantown, NY. Rooted in explorations of all sorts, designer and maker Scott Winter has spent years creating, building, and fabricating with wood and metal. From furniture to custom vehicles, his interests are broad, and in each endeavor his exploration is rooted in curiosity.

Shown here is a 10’ table made of Western curly redwood and African mahogany with purple heart inlays, alongside an 8’ bench of Northeast black cherry and African mahogany. Situated among photographs by Skyler Smith (@skylerrsmith), a lamp by Jesse Groom (@_jessegroom_), and an armchair by Taylor Forrest (@taylor_forrest).

These pieces are available as shown, and also serve as a visualization of what CSW Designs can customize for your specific needs.
