POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This Saturday, May 16, is the final day to view Lenore Golub, an exhibition of paintings by the Brooklyn-born artist known for her intimate abstractions and studies of place.

Presented together at Blunk Space for the first time, in one of the landscapes that shaped her, the exhibition reflects a lifelong creative practice marked by brilliance, subtlety, and emotional depth. Together, the paintings affirm that a lasting artistic legacy can emerge persistently and on its own terms – guided by place, memory, and an unwavering commitment to making.

Join me at Blunk Space on Saturday, April 18 for the opening of Lenore Golub.

A Brooklyn-born painter who came of age alongside New York’s midcentury art scene, Golub quietly developed a deeply personal practice while raising her family—working outside the spotlight with remarkable focus and consistency.

Beginning in 1989, she returned often to Point Reyes and Inverness, drawing from their light, palette, and landscape. With an Instamatic always in hand, she translated these impressions into intimate, layered abstractions shaped by soft geometry and memory.
Presented here for the first time in one of the places that inspired her, these paintings reflect a lifetime of quiet dedication—an artistic legacy built on persistence, sensitivity, and care.

Opening reception: April 18, 3–5pm

Blunk Space is pleased to present Lenore Golub, an exhibition of paintings by the Brooklyn-born artist known for her small-scale abstractions and studies of place. Lenore Golub came of age amidst the roiling energy of New York’s midcentury art scene alongside the Ninth Street painters, yet her disciplined pursuit of a cohesive body of work unfolded largely outside its visibility while she was raising her family.

Beginning in 1989, Golub became a frequent visitor to Point Reyes and Inverness, drawing inspiration from its palette, beaches, and expansive landscape. She photographed her environment constantly, an Instamax always in her pocketbook. From her converted bedroom studio in Little Neck, Queens or the 92nd Street YMCA in Manhattan, she crafted color studies with layered, feathery depth around recurring geometric curves.

Golub’s work is presented together for the first time in one of the places that shaped her, representing a cultivated creative life with brilliance, subtlety, and pathos equally measured. Together, these paintings affirm that a rich artistic legacy can emerge quietly, persistently, and on its own terms—rooted in place, memory, and an unwavering commitment to form.

Please join us for the opening reception of Lenore Golub at Blunk Space on Saturday, April 18 from 3–5pm. Refreshments provided by @lagritonatequila and @unalouwine

Women Who Worked With Frank Gehry Part 2 by @ladyofrecord

The process of connecting with you all & diving further into our research about the women whose visions & resources brought Gehry’s work into reality has been incredible. Thank you! Here is our next set of discovery & just like before…comment & let’s keep this growing! Want to read the full details? Sign up for our newsletter at link in bio.

@zahahadidarchitects - Late architect & first woman to receive the @pritzkerarchitectureprize - “In architecture, almost half of the graduates are women. But they do not yet make up that proportion of practicing architects…leadership is still mainly male. Zaha was the exception. She had confidence, talent & a willingness to jump into the fray. She would not accept a secondary role. She was the whole show.” - Gehry, Time

Cindy Pritzker - Late philanthropist & co-founder of the @pritzkerarchitectureprize - “If I could see the world through anyone’s eyes, it would be Frank’s,” said Cindy. Known for recruiting Gehry for #Chicago’s @millennium_park she contributed $25MM toward construction & convinced civic leaders of its value as a “gift for the next century.”

Meaghan Lloyd - Chief of staff & partner at Gehry Partners - Known as Gehry’s right hand, Meaghan started in 2000 as a model maker & worked her way up to partner. In an interview by System, she shared about his class at @yalearchitecture “He said to us the best part of being an architect is that you get to live your life out loud in your work, and if you don’t, people will not care…So be yourself, whoever that is.” Sent in by: @_jgolub

Joyce Shin - Designer for Frank Gehry x @louisvuitton - As Gehry’s daughter-in-law & a designer with him, she helped distill his musings into potential designs for the collection starting with her 20+ ideas.

Delphine Arnault - Chairman & CEO of Christian Dior, @lvmh board of directors - “What @louisvuitton brings to the table is a deep respect for artists. They were able to produce things that were beyond my wildest dreams.” - Gehry, Cultured
