Unlock with Kate is back with intention for 2026!

Today, I share one of my highest ROI resolutions implemented (and one which I am still consistently practicing). Waking up between 430-5am everyday has done so much good for me that I even do this over the weekends and when I travel.

Waking early forces me to sleep early, which means I get in restorative sleep (win!), and I’m overall more productive and sharper throughout the day.

I’ve been there - working late into the night, then waking up an absolute mess. When I got burnt out, it signalled a need for a reset, and now, I’m happier, less stressed and more productive.

I don’t know about you, but I really dislike that post-holiday stress of feeling behind and like I’m constantly playing catch-up. 😅 I had spent a year getting ahead and I’m not going to lose that advantage.

So here’s what I always do when I feel stressed: I bulked — planned work, meals, and outfits upfront. No more dopamine hits of achieving small tasks.

The result? Actually feeling ahead and feeling like the year has started amazingly!

I used to get very flustered when my happiness was tied to revenue.

When business was good, I felt relieved.
When business slowed, I panicked.

It took many years to realise this wasn’t the healthiest mindset to carry as a founder. When we get overly nervous during bad times, it quietly signals that we don’t fully trust ourselves to see things through.

About three years ago, I started shifting the way I think.

I tell myself one simple thing now: things always work out.

And actually, they really always do.

They worked out through two personal depressive periods.
Through COVID.
Through the moment tariffs were announced and spending froze almost overnight.
Coming back from a failed launch where I only saw 2-3 orders to selling out, just because I held steadfast.

After living through those seasons, I realised there’s very little that can truly shake my steadiness anymore.

It’s not about believing in some magical force in the universe.

It’s about believing in yourself — that when things aren’t going well, you will find the clarity and courage to take the right actions.

And those actions eventually turn things upward again.

In this season of uncertainty, strengthen your mind, and the actions you need to take will come to you. 👌

Not gatekeeping this.

Conversion rate is one of the most important metrics I watch.

Before 2024, our website consistently converted above 2%. So when it started hovering around 1%, I knew something wasn’t right.

I rewrote headlines, adjusted layouts and improved our product pages. I kept optimising, thinking the next change would finally move the needle. Nothing made a meaningful difference.

Then I paid for a professional website speed optimisation service as part of a spring clean exercise, the exercise improved the speed of our site - and our conversion rate lifted from 1% to 2% overnight.

After months of questioning our copy, products and website experience, speed was the breakthrough. Customers thought we were going wonky making so many changes!

Sometimes your product isn’t the problem. Your offer isn’t the problem. Your customer is simply tired of waiting.

When something makes this much of a difference, I believe other business owners deserve to know about it too.

Save this before you redesign your website, spend more on ads, and share it with an ecommerce founder who may be optimising the wrong thing.
