🚨 HUNGER IS RETURNING TO GAZA! 💔🇵🇸

We survived hunger once, but now we're facing the fear of it all over again. 😔

Food is becoming harder to find, prices are rising, and I'm terrified of seeing my family go hungry again.

🙏 Even $3 or $5 can help us put food on our table.

❤️ Please donate or share. Don't let us face hunger alone.

yesterday, a student and parent were kidnapped by ICE outside Kearny High School in New Jersey. An emergency protest was immediately called for that evening, and a small but strong gathering of Kearny community and people from surrounding areas came together in solidarity. KHS students took the courage to take the mic and speak out & it was powerful to see the youth stand up for their community. We must continue to fight against this injustice and domestic terrorism happening on our streets. The world needs us. #FuckICE #Kearny #NewJersey ICEoutofNJ

Celebrating the Release of Martin Soto — People’s Vigil at Delaney Hall

Community members gathered outside Delaney Hall for a people’s vigil celebrating the release of Martin Soto. Martin had spent eight months in immigration detention, including four months in solitary confinement after leading a hunger strike at Delaney Hall. Martin attended the vigil with his wife, Gabi, and their young children. Participants celebrated his return while standing in solidarity with those still detained.

Speakers called for better legal representation and financial support for detained immigrants and their families, and for greater accountability from immigration authorities. They also remembered Oscar Belgal, who was shot by ICE in the Bronx the previous Thursday.

During the vigil, GEO Group personnel pepper-sprayed some protesters outside the gate.

Avenue P will be shown in a separate carousel.

🚨 GAZA IS NOT SAFE. THE WORLD NEEDS TO WAKE UP. 🇵🇸💔

Evacuation orders are returning. The bombing continues. And once again, families in Gaza are living in fear, not knowing where to go or where they can find safety.

We have already lost our home. We have been displaced, suffered hunger, and lived through countless terrifying nights. And now, the fear is growing again.

I'm writing this from Gaza, not as a journalist, but as a young person trying to keep his family alive.

Please, don't scroll past our suffering. Don't wait until another tragedy happens to remember us.

We don't want to become another headline. We just want to survive, live in peace, and have a future.

🙏 If you can help my family, even the price of a cup of coffee could make a difference.

Please share this post. Don't let the world forget Gaza. 🍉❤️

Delaney Hall People’s Vigil, Elizabeth Vigil and Late-Night Discussion with Newark PD

The weekly People’s Vigil was held last night outside Delaney Hall in Newark, bringing together community members to stand in solidarity with people held in immigration detention and their families.

Speakers shared updates from a protest earlier in the day at the New Jersey State House, where protesters had sought to hold Governor Mikie Sherrill’s office accountable for her promises about ICE and community protection. @gabrielasoto_ve also shared an update about her husband Martin, who had been detained for eight months and spent time in solitary confinement. She told us she had reason to hope he might be released this week.

Some of us then drove about 15 minutes to the Elizabeth Contract Detention Facility for a short vigil with @archangeantoine, @ekussman and Gaby, focused on Martin and other detained immigrants.

As that vigil was drawing to a close, we heard that there had been a confrontation between ICE officers and protesters outside Delaney Hall, with some protesters reportedly pushed to the ground by ICE officers.

Many of us returned to Delaney Hall, where tensions had escalated and some protesters were damaging the facility’s main gate. Three Newark Police vehicles arrived, although officers did not tell us what had prompted their arrival.

An officer in charge, who arrived later, had a lengthy discussion with protesters about Newark PD’s jurisdiction over incidents involving ICE officers or private contractors outside the facility. He said that if someone came out and assaulted them, they should call Newark PD. Protesters were frustrated that the discussion did not provide a clear answer about what Newark PD would do if ICE or GEO Group personnel assaulted protesters on public streets. The officer also told protesters they could not destroy property.

Update: Martin Soto was released from the Elizabeth facility this evening (Tuesday, October 6).
