Been another long little while since I've posted...sorry.

Though it's been months now it's important to remember these are abnormal times. If you were already prone to or suffering from mental distress or illness please be gracious with yourself.

You were playing life in hard mode already, then the game itself levelled up without warning. So now you are facing all these extra challenges without any new tools to combat them. As there is a push to show appearances of normality this can throw off coping mechanisms that have got you through the last few months. Don't despair, just acknowledge the challenges you are facing.

It's #selfcaresunday today. See that as a reminder and kickstart to looking out for yourself daily, not just on days with a hashtag x

Illness anxiety disorder (IAD) is a recent term for what used to be diagnosed as hypochondriasis, or hypochondria. People diagnosed with IAD strongly believe they have a serious or life-threatening illness despite having no, or only mild, symptoms. The concerns are to them very real. Even if they go to doctors and no illnesses are found, they are generally not reassured and their obsessive worry continues. IAD can also trigger worries in people who do have a physical illness that they are sicker than they really are. The disorder is not about the presence or absence of illness, but the psychological reaction. Treatment may include therapies and medications.

The unalome symbol represents the path to enlightenment. It represents Shiva's third eye and the spirals are meant to symbolize the twists and turns in life, and the straight lines the moment one reaches enlightenment or peace and harmony. The dots at the end of the symbol represent death, or the moment we fade to nothing. There are multiple designs for unalome tattoos.

A somatic symptom disorder (SSD), formerly known as a somatoform disorder, is any mental disorder that manifests as physical symptoms that suggest illness or injury, but cannot be explained fully by a general medical condition or by the direct effect of a substance, and are not attributable to another mental disorder (e.g., panic disorder). Somatic symptom disorder includes a group of disorders, all of which fit the definition of physical symptoms similar to those observed in physical disease or injury for which there is no identifiable physical cause.
Symptoms are sometimes similar to those of other illnesses and may last for years. A diagnosis of somatic symptom disorder requires that the subject have recurring somatic complaints for at least six months. Psychotherapy, more specifically, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), is the most widely used form of treatment for Somatic symptom disorder.

Yig Yang ☯️
The ancient symbol of harmony reminds us that life is a balancing act and most fulfilling when we learn to embrace its dualities: the ups and downs, the good and bad times, the joys and challenges ♥️
In the black, there is some white.

In the wrong, there is some right.
In the dark, there is some light. ✨

Bulimia nervosa, also called bulimia, is a psychological eating disorder that is characterized by episodes of binge eating (consuming a large quantity of food in one sitting). That's accompanied by no sense of control over eating behavior and followed by inappropriate methods for trying to lose weight, such as vomiting, fasting, enemas, excessive use of laxatives and diuretics, or compulsive exercising.
Bulimia tends to develop late in childhood or in early adulthood. It affects females more often than males. People with bulimia often perform the behaviors in secret, feeling disgusted and ashamed when they binge, yet relieved once they purge. People with bulimia usually weigh within the normal range for their age and height. However, they may fear gaining weight, have desire to lose weight, and may feel intensely dissatisfied with their bodies.

Binge eating disorder (BED) is a eating disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of eating large quantities of food (often very quickly and to the point of discomfort); a feeling of a loss of control during the binge; experiencing shame, distress or guilt afterwards; and not regularly using unhealthy compensatory measures (e.g., purging) to counter the binge eating. Psychotherapy and medications can be helpful in the treatment.
