Week 6 of the Savage CFB High School Showcase brings you a matchup between two undefeated teams!

The 2A Saluda Tigers come into tonights game with a 4-0 record to take on the 4-0 Gilbert Indians from 3A.

This is a 2nd game of a home & home as the two faced off last year at Saluda with the Tigers coming out victorious 33-21

The Indians are coming off of a big time 14-3 win over the Lexington Wildcats who were #12 in the state. And after that dominating win they are now the #18 ranked team in SC

A lot of people are questioning if Saluda is deserving of the hype they’ve gotten so far this year as they’ve only defeated one team with a winning record which was a 25-0 win over the 3-1 Ninety Six Wildcats. Rest assured if the Tigers come out victorious tonight, they will for sure have respect from the state

Gilbert will be coming into tonight on a 12 game home winning streak. Not losing a game at home since September 4th, 2021

As you can see the entire showcase committee decided to roll with the Indians tonight to keep their win streak going

Our guest picker for this week was San Diego State WR Darius Hyde! He also decided to go with the Indians

Kickoff is set for 7:30 ET and the stream is set to start at 7:25

ACCELERATION TIPS 🔥🗣️

Integrate isometrics and acceleration work to build strong joints. This will lay the foundation for tendon and ligament strength to handle the intensity for harder acceleration days.

This is also a great way to integrate something more dynamic and rhythmic to promote expansion in the system (ie: blood flow, tension release, increase body temp). This will increase recovery and relax the nervous system.

Get a lot of reps sprinting, maintain the nervous system for better inputs and outputs, know WHEN to execute movement (technique) ⚡️

EARLY ACCELERATION TECHNIQUE IS IMPORTANT!

Getting the sequence of early acceleration right will help the rest of your sprint phases! In team sport settings acceleration technique is key for performance and longevity 📈

Learn to roll through your steps and put force into yourself. No power leaks ⚡️🫡

Darius Hyde, a STEM student athlete who recently graduated with his Bachelor’s in Biochemistry, explains what drew him to biochemistry.

He mentions that being able to do research on diseases that have made an impact on his family is what drives him. Listen in on his story on the latest episode of the Blue Skies podcast!

FALL, STAY FOLDED, ROTATE. 📈

Today we used the curve to understand and feel these concepts. Then we integrated them into some tempo runs to get some top speed work. Building the sprint brick by brick 🧱

FALL - FOLD - ROTATE 🧠⚡️

Constantly seek knowledge to develop your skills. Train efficiently to reach your goals.

These concepts have helped me refine my foundation in understanding sprinting patterns. I’ve noticed that these concepts have also helped my athletes understand what is important for injury prevention.

Speed can be taught, BUT you must take the time to refine your TECHNIQUE!
