Folk prayer songs for the weary and hopeful

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Katie Lawson released the second single for her full length album today. I’m really excited about it.

This song is a celebration of the local church, and Katie wanted to have lots of people singing along to the last chorus. We weren’t sure how we were going to accomplish this. While we were in the midst of recording, Katie opened for @calebchristopheredwards at a house show, and I was running sound. After her set, we were waiting on Caleb to come upstairs and play. I realized we had what we were looking for: a room full of people that could sing that last chorus. Quickly, I told my wife Lane Marie to start recording a voice memo on her phone - I did the same, and Katie taught the room the chorus to her song.

I was able to sync up the recordings, time align them to her song, and you can hear the results on the record!

Credits:

Katie Lawson - vocals, acoustic guitar, songwriting
Graham Jones - vocals
Matt Osburn - electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass (how about that guitar solo?!)

Luke O’Kelley - drums, recording, production, mixing, mastering

Recorded (somewhat), mixed, and mastered at Red House Studio.

The first Lantern House Conference is in the books! What a sweet time of sharing, connecting, and deepening our understanding of how the arts build God’s kingdom and bless the world.

We can’t wait for next year!

Something magical happens when you get a bunch of Christian creatives all in a room together.

So grateful for The Lantern House and loved being a part of their very first conference! And very grateful for my friend @_klmstudio who is making incredible music (that may have had the whole room teary eyed). So excited to see what the Lord does through this community and how we can continue to create together. 🎨

“Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season...” Psalm 1:1-3

Been thinking of this song all week as I’ve attended my first doctoral class. We chatted about so many troubles affecting the Church today and how we might as leaders respond with grace, truth, justice, hope, and love. But before I lead, I long to be grounded like a tree by Living Water. Grateful for @_klmstudio ‘s beautiful song that encourages me to abide in Him!

Three Week traveling recap is full of Booth wedding joys, cotton candy making, turtles (and snake!) with a lifelong friend’s children, sharing God’s faithfulness with partners, time with two of my own campus ministers, coffee and meals with friends, family birthday fun, sister chats, scootering in Atlanta, reminders of His faithfulness, and a few days seeing God move among college students and their leaders at Collegiate Week! (Also, I would have basically no photographic evidence of memories without BeReal these days! 😅)
