Chicago Marathon - 3:24:39

Honestly, still in shock of the entire experience.

What a day. A 32 min PR. I went out chasing 3:15 and the race made me earn every mile. Bled from mile 12 (new socks smh) to the finish so I couldn’t push the way I wanted. Started to fade at mile 18, but Chicago’s energy (s/o Pilsen!) kept me going.

I loved this race. My first World Major, and it was more than I expected. Proud of how far I’ve come.

To everyone who supported me throughout this journey, THANK YOU. Whether it was a text, voice note, some advice, words of encouragement, or a donation to charity, it meant more than you know.

At the end of the day, I’m just human. I left my heart out there.

Today I celebrate so much! First, my birthday. To be here today is a blessing, and I’m at the top of the world, screaming thank you, Father God!

Second, I chose to challenge myself by being about what I speak about daily: doing hard things. This run was painful, but it was also beautiful. Running in the rain, feeling life in my body, hearing and seeing beautiful people scream my name in celebration because we’re all doing hard things. It was everything.

Thank you to the friends who made it out! Lol, I didn’t PR, but they waited, and I’m so grateful.

@philadelphiadistancerun holds a special place in my heart. I felt so many emotions, but the one I keep returning to is gratitude. 🙏🏾
