POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We are one week away. Are you ready to let your body remember?

Remember when the block belonged to all of us?

When we danced for real, hugged for real, looked out for the babies and the elders, and made joy the whole point of the day?

Once Upon A Time: A Block Party is coming back to Brooklyn, and this year we are going bigger, earlier, and deeper into the healing.
Saturday, September 19, 2026. 1pm to 8pm. Bed-Stuy, on Lexington Ave between Grand and Classon.

Real community connection, the old-school NYC way. DJs spinning the classics that keep the block moving all day.

Games, dancing, massages, good food, and space for every generation to remember, heal, and play.

All ages. All expressions. This is a healing space where play is the modality.

This is more than a party. It is a call to order for the community, carrying the torch from Dance Africa and the African Arts Festival into the future.

RSVP now on Partiful (link in bio) and bring the people you love. Come add your magic. See you on the block.

To all my BlackStar cousins, looking forward to staying in touch and engaged until next year. Grateful to know you, learn from you and be part of this fantastic family. Thank you, BlackStar! Philly is so lucky to have you. 🙌🏾❤️🔥

Day 3 of @blackstarfest BlackStar Film Festival? STACKED with friends old and new. Got time with my mentors and mentee. Grateful for a chance to chop it up around my Ulrick documentary in post and share your can still catch The Seeds We Carry virtually. Saw an amazing film about an incredible woman and than got profound words of wisdom from said Dr. Hammond 🤯 (and encouragement from her son and bonus son filmmakers). Love my doc sisters who lift me up and introduce me to amazing new peeps. The follow up from all these connections is going to be something else. Tiniest bonus - got to meet one of the BlackStar babies and her awesome mom. ❤️

EDITORIAL V - FLYING SOULS NEVER LAND.

An exploration of lineage, spiritual ascension, and the unseen forces that continue to guide us.
This collection exists as an offering and a living archive, carrying the stories, rituals, and energies from our ancestors that shape who we become.

EDITORIAL V begins with Candias, born and raised in New Orleans, a city where spirit, rhythm and resilience shape the way people move. Through her reflections, we explore her connection to the ancestors and how this living memory allows her to be a living vessel of the Flying Souls that Never Land.

The Collection is Available now.
