“You probably won’t dance again.”

Imagine hearing those words when movement, dance and performing have been your life. For Julia Juhas, that possibility was devastating. ❤️

In this powerful conversation, Julia shares what she was told after a knee injury, the second opinion that offered another path and the emotional reality of pain affecting the things she loved.

“What was the hardest part emotionally about facing pain and limitation?” Trevor Gordon

A professional dancer, performer, yoga instructor, movement coach and founder of Live With Ease, Julia brings remarkable courage, honesty and compassion to this conversation. Her willingness to share the difficult chapters gives her story so much depth.

So much love, admiration and respect for Julia. For her resilience, her talent and the care she brings to supporting others as they reconnect with their bodies. An extraordinary woman with a story that deserves to be heard. ✨

FB shared this memory with me this morning, + I felt called to share it again.

Watching it now, I don't relive that chapter the way I once did, but I remember it vividly. I remember what it felt like to be living in a deeply dark place, emotionally, mentally, + physically. At the time, it was hard to imagine the fulfilling life I live today.

Looking back, I'm struck by how far I've come. How much I've evolved as an artist and human.

Like so many people in 2021, I was rebuilding. Rebuilding my career, my confidence, my sense of self-worth, + my relationship with myself.

Ironically, over the past six months I've found myself in another season of uncertainty as a performing artist. While acting work has been quieter than I'd hoped, other parts of my life have been flourishing in ways I never could have predicted.

For a long time, I believed I couldn't truly feel fulfilled unless I was consistently booking work as an actor, singer, or dancer. I worried that if I wasn't immersed in my craft every day, I would somehow lose my identity as an artist or fall behind.
But life has been teaching me something different.

Every artist has seasons. And I call them seasons because they come more than once. There will be times when one part of your life asks for more attention while another becomes quieter. That doesn't make you any less of an artist. It doesn't make you less successful. It makes you human. Those seasons aren't taking you away from your artistry, they're deepening it.

Do I still crave my next incredible film or television role? A meaningful part in a musical or play? Absolutely.

Have I given up on that dream? Not for a second. But while I continue building Live With Ease + supporting others through embodiment, I trust that the next artistic opportunity will come.

It always has. Because being an artist isn't simply what I do. It's who I am.

I feel incredibly fortunate that my work, whether on stage, on set, or guiding someone back home to their body, comes from the same place. My career isn't divided into separate identities anymore.

It's one embodied life.
