Oceanic Feeling
I am a wave. I am the ocean. I am the universe.
This is my personal spiritual approach of being in the world, my way of connecting to the ground of being. A kind of unity and sync with the sacred flow. I am drawn with all my senses to the collective wonder of existence witnessing its unfolding into the appearances of “the 10.000 things“, marveling patterns of matter shifting constantly in a cosmic dance of waves and particles, entangled interconnectedness.
My work is about essential pure immanence that surrounds us, an immediate physical and emotional experience that grounds us in the world.
Each motif is a tableau itself, an archetypal form, a jewel in Indra’s Net. Its relationships make the sum and therefore the Whole way more than its parts.
I question our (Western) attention to the world and contemplate our urgently needed mindset shift.
Most of my images are shot in Infrared in a spectrum (850 nm) that the human eye cannot detect but that a lot of more-than-human-beings are able to perceive. Wandering the shores of ignorance and expanding my horizon I like both the idea of exploring reality beyond the limits of human perception, kind of
lifting the veils... And the curious and empathetic attempt to
envision how more-than-human-beings might perceive reality.
My process is guided by intuition and deeply influenced by my avid reading and pondering ideas. I want to make tangible the fabric of life (e.g. incorporated by having printed on Kozo Paper with its amazing structure), revealing our multilayered existence in an implicit and vague way as well as the divine radiance beyond all matter.

Melanie Schoeniger (Germany) presents “Oceanic feeling,” a photo essay reflecting her personal spiritual approach to being in the world. She explores a sense of unity and sync with the sacred flow, drawn to the collective wonder of existence. Her work captures matter constantly shifting in a fluid cosmic dance of waves and particles, reflecting essential immanence. The series grounds viewers in an immediate physical and emotional experience, allowing them to ride the wave of eternal change and ephemerality, as “we are permanently metamorphosing stardust.”

Fortnight Mentoring Projections
Photographic slideshows with live electronics and piano + photobook showcase.
Discover the work of over 20 established and emerging international photographers from the 2024–2025 “Fortnight Mentoring” program, curated and led by Ilias Georgiadis.
