this project began with a gift. when i was a child in russia, i sat with an old potter who pressed a small vessel into my hands: “fill it with water and make a wish, and when the water is gone, your wish will be true.”

this summer i made eleven palm-sized vessels, one for each of us, to carry through a full moon cycle. a gift of hope. a quiet ritual.

on the opening evening we departed our homes across berlin in hummed our way to the water, each a lullaby of our own, until we found one another and our voices melted into one pool of sound at the dock.

our soft, watery eclipse 🌕

On January 13, 2026, it was announced that the Sound Studies and Sonic Arts MA at UdK Berlin would be discontinued. In response, we assembled a compilation both as a micro-snapshot of the program’s creative life and a testament to the community it fosters.

Really Sound is a cross-section of the sound art and music being made by students of the Udk MA Sound Studies & Sonic Arts. As varied as it is beguiling, Really Sound invites you into 17 distinct sonic worlds; each track serving as a sonic footprint of the artists’ intensive research and creative experimentation, demonstrating that sound is both something we hear as well as a space we inhabit. In addition to its digital release on Bandcamp, the compilation will be released as a DIY limited edition of 100 CDs, featuring artwork by Lise Sutter, and liner notes by Jan Thoben and Julia Schröder. The album was mastered by Kassian Troyer at Dubplates & Mastering.

𝗟𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗶𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝗶𝗼

To celebrate the release of the compilation, we are hosting two events this week. The CD will be for sale at both events.

𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟭𝟱 – Listening event at After – 19:00 - 22:00 - DM for address / come early!
The listening session features the compilation, with short conversations with the artists throughout. The event will also be streamed live on Cashmere Radio.

𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟭𝟴 – ‘Nearly Nothing’ at UNI.T Theatre – 18:00 – 22:00 - Fasanenstr. 1 B
During the Sound Studies and Sonic Arts Rundgang, music from the compilation will be used in collaboration with students from the UdK Costume Design department.

Ｖ４Ｌ
V4L is a singer / songwriter from Athens. She writes synth-driven hyperpop on her laptop since 2020, mostly as a way to cope with the unbearable loneliness of human existence.

ＳｏｌｓｔｉｃｅＯｆｆｅｒｉｎｇ
A live solo performance of electric bass, extreme vocals and light sensors, inspired by paganism and the lo-fi sound aesthetics of black metal. A concert in the form of ritual, where sound itself becomes the sacrificial offering.

ＰｅｄｒｏＭｉｌｅｕ＆ＧｕｒｏＫｖｅｒｎｄｏｋｋ
Questioning the intuitive connection between improvised movement and voice. Fusing vocal improvisation, extended techniques, and live electronic processing with improvised movement.

Ｓａｔｕｒｄａｙ１４Ｍａｒｃｈ
