I took a DJI Osmo Pocket 3 to Japan.. and discovered I didn’t want one 😂

Back in November, I asked @673shop_bn if I could borrow a Pocket 3 for my trip to Kamikochi & Kanazawa because I’d been thinking about getting one for myself.

And this is EXACTLY why renting a gadget before splurging on it is such a good idea.

The Pocket 3 is an amazing little camera, but I quickly realised it just wasn’t for me. 😅 I’m impatient, I couldn’t figure out how to zoom in and out properly, and instead of actually taking the time to learn how to use it, I used it for maybe a day or two, gave up and put it back in its case 😬

No regrets though, because now I KNOW. Imagine buying one first and only discovering that afterwards.

And the irony? This video then took me FOREVER to post because I couldn’t figure out how to get all the footage I’d transferred to my laptop back onto my phone to edit 🤦🏻‍♀️

Shoutout to all the content creators I went to Guangzhou with who gave their insight and @mamad_a.k who said “Why don’t you just download CapCut on your laptop?” 😑

…………

So here we are 😂 A 3½-minute video, almost a year in the making.

Moral of the story: try before you buy.

@673shop_bn doesn’t just stock the latest gadgets - you can RENT them too, which is perfect if you want to test something out, take it on a trip, or figure out whether it actually fits the way you shoot before spending the money.

Turns out the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 wasn’t for me.

But renting it first? Definitely was.

; Week in review 📔

I was sitting in the sauna yesterday, and did a bit of reflection on how the week had went and I realized that I had a pretty solid week and was feeling grateful for it.

I wrapped up both my training and running block, so it was nice to see some new numbers. I’ve also been reevaluating the way I eat, so was happy with the progress.

But moreover, I think I’m grateful for the everyday things. Grateful for being able to have a routine, grateful for my family and friends, grateful to be able to do what I love and see the magic in it. You don’t always get sunshine and rainbows so when it happens, you gotta just be appreciate that it did.

🏝️🛝 Got to celebrate Faiz’s birthday at the waterpark / playground. Relived a lot of childhood memories.

🏋️‍♀️📊 Grateful to be able to hit new numbers as I get older. People shouldnt stop lifting due to age, they just need to have the right coaches behind them.

💪🏽📐 Been consistently trying to eat better and happy to see that I’m at the lowest body fat percentage ever. Crazy how much food plays a part in our body.

🏃‍♂️💨 Never thought I’d go sub 21 in a 5km run, happy that training has paid off and thankful for the groups of guys who consistently show up for me.

🧊🛁 Grateful that every Sunday, Chian Mei and I get to do our recovery session together. Time together, our new version of date night.

👦🏻📈 As much as I can, I try to spend as much time with Levi. I throughly enjoy our father and son bonds, at home, at the gym or out shopping.

🏆🎽 Despite not winning, it felt great to compete again, especially as my season starts next week. Happy to have friends who continue to push me further. Thankful to be able to do what I love.

Here’s to better weeks and positive vibes everyone! ♥️

Brought these big kids out to @jerudongpark water park today to celebrate @_mfas birthday (where @amalj and I were the mums looking after the boys 😂), followed by a few goes on the F1 Supakart and dinner at @mcdonaldsbrunei 🍔 If I had more time, I would’ve made them goodie bags too lol.. all were a bit unsure at first but hope they had a good time being carefree and having fun for a few hours

“How did you get into personal training?”

I get asked this question quite frequently. Quite unsurprising since I’m in my 40s and previously, a Literature teacher then a SAHM. Seems like quite a pivot?

I’ve always been fairly active, but only made major changes in lifestyle and mindset when I moved to Brunei for 4 years. After joining @jabgym, it became part of my routine, then it was my community and family. When my interest in fitness developed, the trainers encouraged me to pursue it and were so generous in sharing their knowledge & time.

And here am I today, at an unique juncture in my life. I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge that this is really in large part due to my amazing friends at Jab Gym, all the staff and trainers, and the founders who have built and grown such a wonderful and safe space for a great community. I cannot thank them all enough 🙏🏼 And I hope to pass it on, and make an impact on other people’s lives.

So, if someone asks you to join them for a gym session, it is imperative that you say YES. You never know how it’s going to change your entire life ❤️

Day trip to Kamikochi from Matsumoto - early train and bus there, we fueled up with egg sandwiches and tuna onigiri bought the night before!

Our route was Taisho Pond - Tashiro Pond - Kappa Bridge - Myojin Bridge - Hotaka Shrine Okumiya & Myojin Pond - Gakusawa Marsh - Bus Terminal and it took about half a day. Rang the bells to let bears know we’re there, spotted some cute and dramatic snow monkeys, shopped at the souvenir shops and had apple soft serve (delicious!) and apple pie (meh)

Absolutely stunning and.. COLD! 😂 #kamikochi #japan #travel #travelling

Our first stop in Japan was Matsumoto - quaint, beautiful and cold! 😂 Wish we had an extra night there as it was very much a resting place to get to Kamikochi, but I think it definitely deserved 3 nights because most of the time was traveling to get there and traveling to and from Kamikochi #matsumoto #japan #travel
