GROOVE DECODED 1 - INSCAPE

🇬🇧 New series: I take iconic handpan tracks, extract the core groove and break it down in slow motion so you can actually learn it.

First one: a masterpiece - INSCAPE by Daniele Rebaudo feat. Nadishana.

The main groove is two cells of 7.
ta-ki-te ta-ka | ta-ki-te ta-ka ta-ke-di-mi
[7 + 7 = 14]

Note: this groove actually appeared for the first time in 2025 with the track "Void in Motion" composed by @_nadishana_ . Thanks to Nadishana himself for clarifying.

This time, we wanted to get things ready well in advance. 😀 Here’s the lineup for the next edition of the Swiss Handpan Festival!

The fifth edition will take place from September 17–19, once again at our historic venue, the Kulturfabrik.

Applications to perform on the "Garden Stage on Sunday" will open soon. This stage is dedicated exclusively to emerging artists, offering them a space to share their music and connect with the community.

Short handpan solo idea with some percussive split-hand phrases I learned from @_nadishana_ and some North Indian Pakhawaj phrases learned from @ganapatizeneiskola.

It was quite fun and challenging to write this, and its a great work out for the split-hand muscles :D

The composition fits nicely in a 16 beat cycle of teen taal, although it is interpreted freely :)

Proud to present you this new sound model: JASMINE.

This enchanting handpan scale has been designed to offer the player an incredible variety of nuances. It is a dreamy and evocative E Lydian scale, yet the Jasmine is incredibly easy to play. It immediately reveals itself as a G♯ minor scale and can also be played easily as a major scale.
Like water flowing down a gentle hillside, this scale transforms into whatever you want it to be, without resistance. The player can effortlessly move from a modal sound to a minor or major tonality without any effort. Evocative at first, then meditative and sweet, the scale ultimately unfolds into a bright and uplifting major pentatonic.
Five notes, like the five petals of this fragrant flower, carry a special meaning in many cultures around the world.

🎵 Metamorphosis
The Same Roots, Another Tree

“Metamorphosis” grew from my repeated practice and teaching of @_nadishana_ ’s Handpanistan. Over time, new ideas emerged, evolved, and became increasingly complex, eventually developing into an independent piece.

It features intricate variations on the chord cycle, rhythmic breaks, hemiolas, and the form of Handpanistan.

I also incorporated @_nadishana_ ’s distinctive handpan techniques and various rolls he developed.

“Metamorphosis” began with one piece, but gradually found its own path.

Dedicated to @_nadishana_ , a great figure in the world of handpan, in appreciation of his passionate efforts to expand and advance the instrument. ❤️

ریشه‌ای یکسان، درختی دیگر

«دگردیسی» از دل تمرین و تدریس مداوم Handpanistan اثر Nadishana شکل گرفت؛ ایده‌هایی که به‌مرور پرورش یافتند، پیچیده‌تر شدند و در نهایت به یک قطعه‌ی مستقل تبدیل شدند.

در این اثر، واریاسیون‌های پیچیده‌ای بر سیکل آکوردها، ایده‌های شکست ریتم، همیولاها و فرم Handpanistan شکل گرفته است.

همچنین از تکنیک‌های خاص Nadishana برای هندپن و انواع رول‌های ابداع و توسعه‌یافته توسط او استفاده شده است.

«دگردیسی» از یک اثر آغاز شد، اما به‌تدریج راه خودش را پیدا کرد.

تقدیم به بزرگ‌مرد دنیای هندپن، Nadishana، به پاس تلاش‌های عاشقانه‌اش برای گسترش و اعتلای ساز هندپن. ❤️
