INVICTUS is a group show hosted by @OneArtGallery and curated masterfully by bringing together 10 brilliant artists: @tony.jagas @oni_balogun @artinuke_ @dumbor_debeeh @artist_stanleynabo @sowocreations @cletus_oche @penieltheartist @kenny_at_it_again and the curator @mrwaduud

The exhibition is inspired by William Ernest Henley’s 1875 poem, Invictus:

Out of the night that covers me,
Black is the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

In the words of the curator “The most interesting thing about Invictus is what it doesn’t promise. It doesn’t promise a life without suffering. It doesn’t promise that our hard work will always produce the outcome we want. It doesn’t promise that we will always win. Instead, it points to something more internal and powerful: the knowledge that, no matter the situation, our sense of self, dignity, and agency can never be compromised, especially when circumstances become difficult.”

The exhibition runs till 7th of November.

Day 14/30

Attended an art exhibition @_oneartgallery and honestly, it was so beautiful seeing different artists express themselves through their work.

Every piece had something unique about it, and it reminded me how beautiful art truly is. 🥹🤎
