Audio originale senza post produzione.

Most people see soil as just dirt. We don’t.

At GODARSVILLAGE, we see soil as a living system that holds balance, stress, vitality, and memory. This is not our invention — it comes from ancient agricultural knowledge, now often forgotten, that taught people to observe the land deeply before cultivating it.

That’s why we work with practices inspired by tradition, permaculture, and electroculture, paying attention not only to the physical condition of the soil, but also to its deeper state.

Today, intensive farming, pesticides, and the race for speed are weakening the land, the seeds, and the natural resilience of plants. And when soil becomes weaker, crops become more vulnerable to disease, bacteria, and fungi — as we are seeing in many olive trees and other plants.

For us, food is never just food. It carries the quality of the soil it comes from.

If we want healthier plants, healthier food, and a healthier future, we have to start from the ground.

Everything begins beneath our feet.

18 hours and 30 minutes.

That’s the total amount of audio I recorded at the heart of the Mer de Glace on Monday, April 20 and Tuesday, April 21, alongside glaciologist Luc Moreau and @pascaltournaire

A slightly crazy project, driven by a simple question: what is really happening beneath our feet, above our heads, behind the walls when we stand inside an ice cave?
And more importantly… what does the glacier reveal when all human activity disappears at night?

To explore this, I set up multiple recording systems: geophones, hydrophones, shotgun mics, and ambient microphones.
From deep inside meltwater-carved ice tunnels to the surface near a small glacial lake, I recorded from late afternoon through the entire night, until the early morning, just before the first visitors arrived.

What I heard goes far beyond what we usually think of as silence.

These recordings will be used for immersive exhibitions and sound libraries for audiovisual production, but they also carry a deeper purpose: raising awareness.

Because despite its worn, almost skeletal appearance in summer, covered in granite carried over decades, the Mer de Glace is still here.
It moves. It shifts. It speaks.
And it is melting.
