Happy Vietnamese Women’s Day!

What better day to release the audiobook of Love Letters to the Dirty South than today, October 20, as we celebrate the strength, love, resilience, and stories of Vietnamese women!

This release is especially meaningful as I celebrate my mother, my sisters, and all the incredible women in my life who have shaped who I am, inspired my writing, and filled my world with love and wisdom.

Here’s a little taste of the audiobook! 🎧 Thank you @unmpress for producing it, and BIG THANKS to @_quyenngo (a phenomenal Viet woman) for directing it!

And if you’re in Chicago, come celebrate with me today at @hai_bayo Hai Ba Yo Cafe for a book talk with @captrue8 Tuan Huynh of @vietfive VietFive Coffee!

I’m not sure when my little charmander nephew became a charzoid young man but he booked a flight and came to visit. Instead of showing him an LA tour, Auntie took this chance to immerse my boy in his own culture by spending a day in life with me and it was perfect that he came during @vietfilmfest

There’s little to no Vietnamese representation in the city that he lives so hopefully this all allowed this young man to see what his own people can do, have done and to realize that he has within him too. Family.

Thank you to my community. This event reminds me how steadfast and relentless and united we are, Little Saigon!

Being rooted in whatever country your family is from esp when you live overseas is so important to me and I hope everyone finds their ethnic enclaves bc LA is so diverse, you can be from anywhere and find your people here 🫶

Love you, sweet cháu! Hope you liked today 🤗

Narrating my audiobook in an LA studio. Part of the journey, part of the process. Enjoy the whole of it, the nerves, the fears, the gratitude, the determination. Day 1 down, 4 days to go. LFG!

It’s been one week since our staged reading of @carolynkhuynh’s “Bridegroom.” It was my first foray into producing and, while it was a lot of work, I feel like the end result was more than worth it. Thank you to our amazing cast and crew who were so generous with their time and talent. Thank you to our producing team, Cindy, Carolyn, Grace, and Quyen, for all their immense contributions to make this event possible. Thank you to our amazing audience who showed up and packed the house. I don’t know what’s next, but I hope this is the start of something good!
