World MS Day is almost here 🧡 and I’m really excited for this conversation. Going live this way is new for me but I wanted to do something special in honor of all my new followers!

This Saturday, I’m going LIVE with some of my physician friends , Dr. Danielle Timmons @dr.dani_do , Dr. Dejhara Wellons @dr.dee.w, and Dr. Rashona Moss @_shona.ali to talk all things MS, advocacy, and what it really looks like to have a strong healthcare team in your corner.

One thing people don’t always realize is that managing MS isn’t just about seeing your neurologist. Your PCP, urgent care doctor, hospital team, and the people helping you manage your overall health matter too. So we wanted to have a real conversation about the things we look out for, symptoms patients shouldn’t ignore, when to push for answers, and how doctors across different specialties work together to support patients living with MS.

We’re also going to try to answer some of your questions during the live, so feel free to join us and be part of the conversation. Comment what you’d want answered below ☺️

Saturday, May 30th
2 PM EST
LIVE on my Instagram @jakthedoc

Can’t wait to chat with you all 🧡

First, Thank you God! Without him I would not have finished.

So this journey has been amazing… it started November of 24’. This when I decided to take my health seriously again. After a tough conversation with my doctor and a few friends I knew it was time to attack this head on. I had no idea it would end up with me running a marathon 1.5 years later but we often don’t know where the journey ends only that we need to begin.

Next, I have to thank everyone who came out and supported me yesterday. I truly believe the circle I have is unmatched. Not only did they show up yesterday but they’ve shown up consistently throughout my life and my training. Whether is them actually training with me or just an encouraging text. Whenever I need them they are there and that was proven to me again yesterday. I love y’all and appreciate y’all.

To my wife and daughter… y’all allow me to be who I am and I aiming to be the highest version of myself for y’all. I love you both to the end of the world no question. Thank you for letting me do crazy things!

Beyond the scrubs: episode 1. Pilates Princess.
Welcome to my REDISCOVERY era.

I’m challenging myself to fully lean into the new version of me. Fighting the spirit of perfectionism, fear of being “perceived”, overthinking. I’m feeling more creative, and ready to tap back in with intention. 😌 #beyondthescrubs

Now besties, what’s your fave workout?
I’m definitely adding Pilates into the rotation.

We had a TIME celebrating the vow renewal of our dear friend @the_drstandiferbarrett and her husband. My girl got married in the thick of COVID in a small ceremony and we were all ECSTATIC to do a remix celebrating 5 years of marriage with EVERYONE (BUT COVID) present! ⁣
⁣
Aside from reveling in Bree and her husband’s love, I couldn’t help but find so much joy in how far we all have come from being broke, overworked, and STRESSED in residency! God is good and triumphant…and it shows in our SKIN 😜 and the way we care for our patients.👏🏾👏🏾

Some new faces, so I wanted to say 👋🏿

I’m Dr. Kamara, a colorectal surgeon on a mission to educate, empower, and break the stigma around colorectal health. Let’s talk about the health topics that matter—but don’t always get the spotlight. Because when we know better, we do better!💩💩💩

Get to know me and let’s get into it.
