We are old travellers of theatre and films looking to build a new boat. A boat that we will ride in our endeavour to understand the world we live in.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The extraordinary in the ordinary, where love and resentment share the same roof, and the smallest disagreements carry the weight

When care becomes a responsibility, love gets tangled with guilt, old wounds find new voices, and the people we know best become the hardest to understand.

Come witness a story where every little fight hides something much bigger.

Imagine a village where people don't even dare to speak… all because of the constant threat of an avalanche.

In this gripping story, silence is not a choice but the price of survival, raising powerful questions about freedom, fear, tradition, and what it truly means to be human.

A bouquet of thirteen plays was Nataka Hubba’s offering at BLR Hubba 2026. Curating this selection was a genuine privilege, and I’m deeply grateful to every group that came on board and trusted the process. What emerged was not just a programme, but a conversation across forms, politics, regions, and temperaments.

They say it takes a village, but this festival took a whole town. Immense thanks to @ravichandar_v for the steady compass, @_aroneha_ and @iambharavi for being absolute pillars, the fellow curators for constant solidarity, the tireless venue managers and their fearless volunteer armies, including Nataka’s own @say_samarth and @sahanaaaadev, and every other team quietly holding the line to make BLR Hubba 2026 what it became.

Did you catch Avalanche by The Gathered at 📌PCPA on 🗓️ 20 January?

Set in a mountain village under the constant threat of a literal avalanche and the fear of punishment for breaking enforced silence, Avalanche is a stark parable about fear disguised as protection, showing how systems meant to “keep people safe” can end up crushing the very lives they claim to safeguard.

The performance had us on our toes — thanks to The Gathered for putting up such an engaging show!

Having worked on and travelled with the play for two and a half years, we are deeply happy to bring Avalanche to Bangalore as part of the Nataka Hubba Festival @nataka.blr.hubba

Returning to rehearsals now feels unexpectedly fresh. That is the quiet magic of theatre: even years later, in a new run of shows, it offers unseen nuances and the strange joy of discovering a new facet of a character you thought you knew.

Having designed clothes only for myself since I was a child, designing with @bhumika.dube for a situation, for a text has been a beautiful shift. It also led to the birth of the Green Room Trunks, which I truly treasure.

Our director @gandharvdewan dared to imagine a richly detailed set and gathered such a fine group of people to bring it into being. From witnessing online design drafts and discussions to seeing the set come alive each time has been extraordinary. The effort and labour put in by @anagramarchitects, @madhav.raman, @oojalwa Fahremuddin @gandharvdewan @bhar_ul_shar @cheenikabadshah @mohitiwo and all the carpenters and masons has been remarkable. As an actor, it has felt like a dream to watch your house being built before you make it your own. For many, many reasons, this play holds a very special place for us.

Avalanche, the debut production of The Gathered, has been met with immense warmth. We are deeply grateful for the love it has received, and for all the festivals and venues that have invited us to perform.

As this may be one of the final runs of the show, I urge anyone who can to come and experience Avalanche.

Avalanche, by Turkish playwright Tuncer Cücenoğlu, is presented here in a Hindi translation while retaining its original mountain-village milieu, where most of the year is spent under the threat of a literal avalanche and the constant fear of punishment for breaking enforced silence. The community has normalised control to the point where births are banned, pregnancies hidden, and dissent potentially fatal. Over a single day inside one family’s home, the older generation clings to obedience as the young reach breaking point. The result is a stark Global South parable about fear dressed up as protection, and how systems built to “keep people safe” ultimately crush the lives they claim to safeguard.
