Introducing Tania Quintanilla (@_tqstudio_) Parsons MFA Photo 2026

Tania Quintanilla is a Mexican-born interdisciplinary artist whose practice explores transformation, perception, and the representation of women’s bodies through sculpture, photography, and collage. Drawing from her twenty-five-year career as a commercial beauty photographer, she investigates how images shape our understanding of beauty, aging, and identity. At the core of her practice is an iterative process in which material transformation becomes both method and metaphor, connecting feminist histories to contemporary technologies and image-making. Her recent work centers on menopause as a largely unseen transformation, using material change to explore what it means to inhabit a body that is constantly evolving. Quintanilla earned a B.A. in Biology from St. Mary’s University before receiving a B.A. in Photography from Brooks Institute. She is currently completing her M.F.A. in Photography at Parsons School of Design. She lives and works in New York City.
