Witness to a Body Sharing some precious moments from my work in @amordance.creative’s most recent production. This concept had been living in my mind since discovering Sarah Whatley’s five viewing positions while writing my senior capstone on physically integrated dance. I was excited to present the audience with a work that removes, then reveals elements of identity and challenges viewers to reflect on their observational bias of the dancers and their physicality. Super grateful for my amazing dancers and the effort that went into brining this idea to life! Photos by @dancenerd.photo!

Thought I would post a little story about Boxpac! Boxpac started by Larry Coates in the 80’s. It was originally known as “the Boxer” a shipping and crating Company. Richard Tyler Coates his youngest son eventually took over for him. Running Boxpac until he decides to create his own music venue. Tyler had a passion for music and bringing people together. He started his Journey into the music venue business with Desert Basin Events in a smaller warehouse across from boxpac project. As “DB” grew and gained its popularity hosting all types of shows, he ultimately decided to sell the business of Boxpac to his older brother. Changing that to coates crate and freight leaving the Boxpac name and legacy there to put together the newest project. While keeping the name Boxpac for his father who passed in 2022. He worked hard to turn that space into the newest and biggest venue. As time moves forward tyler partners with mutiny music collective hosting bigger and better shows there. Since the passing of Richard Tyler Coates, Alex from mutiny helped us in huge ways transitioning the closing of Desert Basin Events, As well as Mutiny continuing Boxpac Project! Thank you for listening to his legacy! #TeamHappy #Onelove - The Coates Family photo 1: My grandpa Rudy (my mothers father) wearing an original boxpac hat! Photo 2: a photo of my dad taking a photo of one of the first shows at boxpac project, he was so proud!

It was definitely a trip to remember! I love my baby sister and I’m grateful I got the opportunity to go back there with her!

Tylee Coates Director Performer Tylee Coates is a 22 year old Dancer, Performer and Choreographer based out of Salt Lake City. She has been dancing for over 16 years now, starting out at a small studio in Salt Lake City, and got her high school degree from the Salt Lake School for the Preforming Arts where she studied under Bethany Hanson, Jessie Metcalf-McCullough and Michelle Armstrong. Tylee went to Snow College in 2022 and graduated with her Associates in Dance where she studied under Dmitri Peskov along with being on the Snow College Dance Company. During her time there, Tylee preformed as a soloist at the American College Dance Association, along with being in an ensemble for a piece that was sent to Gala in both 2023 and 2024. She preformed a piece by Rire-woodbury Dance Company in 2024. In March of 2024, she traveled to Kalamazoo, Michigan with the Snow College Dance Company where they preformed in RADFEST. Since graduating from Snow College, Tylee has been freelancing around the Salt Lake Valley, performing in multiple shows: twice in the Sample Series Showcase by Salt Lake Ballet Cooperative and Deseret Experimental Opera, Tara Jo’s first Full length show, Monday Movement Lab, and on Allium Movers season two. She is now continuing her journey towards her Bachelors in Dance at the Utah Valley University. Tylee started Amor Dance Creative in the summer of 2024 because she wanted to create a safe space for dancers to grow and move with each other. She is so excited for what season three will bring!
