Momma,
You have been my best friend, my mentor, my coffee-drinking music-listening errand-running road trip companion, but most of all you have been my Mom. And above that, you have been the most Jesus reflecting Mom you could have been. You were always there for me when I needed you most, always found a way to say exactly what I needed and when I needed it, and you gave me a comfort that I cannot express. I love you a lot, i’m gonna miss our late night theology talks and day trips to the store. Looking forward to celebrating you today, happy birthday Momma!

🥳 Happy Birthday, Nessa! What a year it’s been, and as you begin another year, I can’t wait to see how the Lord leads you. I also can’t wait to see what trails you hike, coffee you drink, and what makes you laugh most. I LOVE THAT LAUGH! And I love you!

On Saturday, family and friends from all over joined us to celebrate MJ’s High School Graduation, eat, laugh, and yes… cry! The snacks and drinks were amazing.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO CAME, and to everyone who texted or called if they couldn’t. It meant a lot.

On Sunday after church, we played a round of golf where it all started for MJ and me. A huge thanks to Owen and Casey for playing (and almost beating us 😜), and to the crowd who showed up to cheer. Made it extra special!

I’m excited to see this next chapter start for MJ — and don’t worry, there’ll be plenty of posts about it over the next four years!

So pumped for SLO HIGH MEN’S GOLF! For the first time in school history, they’re advancing to regionals in Chino Hills next week. On a selfish note, this is MJ’s last year playing high school golf and I am so proud of his dedication over the past 4 years. He shot a 71 today which got him a T5 finish. Impressed by his resolve as he battled back from a difficult start to the round. Holing out from the fairway for an EAGLE on hole 9 helped! 😉 As we say often after every round, ON TO THE NEXT! 🏌️⛳️

I get to watch this mom in real time, day in and day out, 24/7 — with the exception of sleeping — love and care for her children in countless ways. From hikes, golf tournaments, nail-painting sessions, and everything in between, to prayer, explaining Bible verses, and pointing our kids toward Jesus in every situation, she does it all with so much love.

I learned a long time ago just how special this lady is, and how blessed our kids are to call her Mom.

Vanessa, you’re the greatest mom I know, and our children would say the same. We love you. Happy 19 years of being a momma!

Always great to see these fellas out there representing San Luis Obispo High School Men’s Golf. ALSO . . . Great to see the hard work and dedication of @mjshepherd_golf pay off. 2nd Individual win this year with a 68 (-4) at @cypressridge Golf Course. A lot of things clicking into place and I can’t wait to see what happens as League Finals begin this Monday. GO TIGERS! @slohsathletics

Sometimes the biggest impact starts with the smallest moment. We love creating a space where kids of all ages can have fun, feel welcomed, and learn about Jesus on their level. From games and songs to prizes and personal connection, every moment matters.

A huge thank you to our Canyon Kids SLO Dream Team Members who make it all possible week after week. 💙

2025 wasn’t easy, but it was necessary. It was a year of change, growth, and deep maturity. A year that stretched me in ministry, pushed me physically, and forced me to trust God in seasons of transition I didn’t choose but desperately needed. There were moments of uncertainty, moments of refining, and moments where all I could do was hold on.

Through it all, God never left. He was faithful when things felt unclear, present when I felt tired, and steady when everything else was shifting. I’m grateful for the lessons, the pruning, the growth, and even the hard moments—because they shaped me.

I’m also deeply thankful for the people God placed around me this year—the friends who were added to my life and the ones who stayed, who walked with me, prayed with me, and didn’t leave when things got messy or uncertain. They were a reminder that I was never walking alone.

I don’t take this year lightly. I carry it with gratitude. And as I step into this new year, I do it with faith, humility, and expectation, trusting that God is still writing the story. I can’t wait to see what He does next.
