(EN below) Cuidar de todas as pessoas exige dividir trabalho, tempo, recursos e responsabilidade. Quanto da liberdade de uns continua sendo financiado pelo trabalho sem descanso das outras? O seu candidato pretende mexer nessa conta?

When a single mother comes home from work and starts another shift at home, who gets to call that a choice?

I grew up watching the women in my family care for children, sick people, and everyone else who needed them. That work consumed time, money, and opportunities they could have had for their own lives, too.

In 2024, Lula signed Brazil’s National Care Policy into law. The law recognizes care as a right and as a responsibility that needs to be shared.

It’s a step forward that I want to see put into practice, with funding and public services. With childcare, care services close to home, and support for both those who need care and those who provide it. With the conditions that allow a woman to work or take a break without leaving someone else without the care they need.

This also requires change at home. No public service can do men’s part in sharing that responsibility for them.

I vote 13 to defend this path and demand that it go further.

How much of some people’s freedom is still financed by other women’s endless labor? Is your candidate willing to change that equation?

MEET MALEFI @ AFRO LAB DAY 2026

Behind the decks. Behind the scenes. On both sides of the conversation.

@m_a_l_e_f_i is a Canadian–South African DJ and multidisciplinary artist based in Bern. Her bass-driven, diasporic sets blend global club sounds with nostalgic undertones, taking her across Switzerland and onto international dancefloors.

But her experience goes far beyond performing.

She curates the Clubville stage at Openair Frauenfeld and has worked in Artist Care at Gurtenfestival for over seven years bringing together the perspective of a performing artist, festival curator and someone who understands what artists need behind the scenes.

That’s why she’s joining us for FROM FIRST GIG TO NEXT STEP and ASK THE INDUSTRY.

How do you position yourself as an artist? How do you approach promoters? What helps you move beyond your first bookings? And what happens on the other side of that conversation?

MALEFI brings experience from the booth and the festival environment into an evening of practical knowledge, honest conversations and your questions.

I'm still trying to slow it all down, trying to stretch out the lingering of the good tastes. With Katie Omole, I co-convened the Watch&Talk programme inside Theatre Festival Basel ... many days ago, more than the socials permit. Yesterday's news. Nevertheless, new connections with beautiful people and conversations, generosity and curiosity which doesnt know yesterday from today. We are all back in our respective continents... I do want you to know that you do linger in the loveliest ways. Thank you Theatre Festival Basel for doing the work to keep this programme going. Aluta.
