The music that dominated the 2000s coming from the Caribbean to the world, and straight into Nigeria with the riddims, rewinds, fashion, and energy. Nigerians were making our version of dancehall records and we were dancing to them at birthday parties too.

Come dressed for a yard dance. Come ready to move.

Amina Gimba is an accomplished visual artist, illustrator, graphic designer, and muralist with a diverse creative practice spanning more than a decade. With a style rooted in raw, emotive expression, Gimba moves fluidly across scales from painting large-format murals at street festivals to creating intricate book covers, graphic novels, private portraits, and corporate editorial graphics. Their seasoned independent workflow has made them a sought-after collaborator for global advocacy groups, human rights platforms, and development agencies, including the ONE Campaign, Taboom Media, GALA, Take Back The Tech, and GIZ (The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit). Across mediums, the work serves as a vehicle for storytelling, balancing human vulnerability with disciplined graphic structure.

A look inside their sketchbook reveals a key driver of this style: consistency and an unwavering commitment to creative expression. These pages operate as a space for uninhibited visual experimentation, marked by thick, energetic linework, dense wax-crayon or oil-pastel textures, and a visceral approach to color relationships. The drawings explore recurring themes of human connection, bodily emotion, and structural identity. By stepping away from sterile, hyper-refined digital vectors in these personal studies, Amina uses rough cross-hatching, heavy contour lines, and layered, tactile mixes of media to document a raw visual sociology that feels both ancient and intensely contemporary.

Amina’s command of stylized anatomical forms, text framing, and organic background patterning is well established. The sketchbook entries show an extraordinary range of emotional states and graphic execution. The work often features bold profiles of Black figures outlined in heavy black lines and embellished with minimalist gold jewelry, geometric chest markings, and stylized tropical foliage underscoring a rare ability to blend fine-art texture with production-ready graphic layout mechanics.

12 editions. 12 posters.

A full calendar year of RAWA, and every single edition has had a poster worth keeping. RAWA attendees collect them, take them home, frame them, and put them on their walls. That level of attachment to a piece of event material doesn’t happen by accident.

Our Creative Director @a.foramina has designed every RAWA poster from 001 to 012 without missing once!

Here’s to her, and to many more posters 🪩💚

In the 1830s, educators like Friedrich Froebel saw art as more than decoration—it was a tool for thinking, feeling, and learning. As the founder of the first kindergarten, he placed creative activities at the heart of early education, nurturing coordination, imagination, and self-expression in children.

Today, that truth still holds: art helps children process their world, build confidence, and communicate what they cannot yet say—one color, one shape, one book at a time.🎨💛

And with our little contributions, we can help more children develop and discover their hidden potentials early on❤️🌈
Join us on the journey to reach more children.

Some children learn in spaces that have been forgotten, but together we can change that✨

Your support helps us paint educational murals and provide books to orphanage homes and underprivileged schools, creating spaces where learning feels alive. A painted wall can spark curiosity, and a book can open a new world 📚🎨

LITTLE HANDS, BIG MEMORIES
Our LIFE TREE — a moment where the children imprinted their colorful handprints on the mural.

More than just art, this is a living memory for the children — a piece of something they helped bring to life, and a step into something bigger.

An experience that will grow with them for years to come.
