while preparing to announce my first headlining show, and my next full length project, I have done a lot of reflection on who I am and what this all means to me.

first and foremost, I’m just a kid with some instruments. music has acted as a filter for my words that has helped me break down and understand myself and the people around me better. constantly returning to it has proven my resilience and eagerness to learn.

sometimes, I get lost in the seriousness of being a respectable artist, in aura farming on instagram, in one upping myself over and over again. at the end of the day, I write because I need to in order to comprehend the absurdity of life. I produce because it’s fun and gives me something to do, and I release what I make into the world so other people can take something from it. recently, I’ve really fallen in love with the closeness I feel playing in a band. it’s a really comforting feeling, camaraderie.

this next project was brutal to make, but now I feel elated as I’m listening to it front to back. I went pretty gung-ho into it, then was met with a deep depression that stalled its progression as I had to accept that the only way to finish it was to leave another era of my life behind. this project serves as the final record of a trilogy: “downpour in chinatown”, “songs for a solo dancer”, and now this. this next record is probably my clearest work to date.

I’ll be playing my first headlining show at Cobra Club on 9/10, which is ironically the day Charlie Kirk got shot, and is also 9/11 eve. It almost doesn’t feel real if I compare myself to where I was at two years ago, hell even SIX YEARS AGO when I released my first song. I won’t know what it truly means to me until it’s said and done and my record drops shortly after.

all I know now is I am deeply thankful for music and for everyone I have met and will meet because of it. I thank God for keeping me on this path and giving me the tools to do so. I thank my mom for encouraging me to make and love art in my youth, and I thank my dad’s blood. I thank my brother Gavin for being my best man through it all.
