Two dreams kept me in NYC after I moved here in 2009. 1️⃣: book a Broadway show. 2️⃣: getting horses off the streets. 🐴❤️

What started as a small-town girl signing petitions at auditions, at work, and anywhere someone would listen usually felt like a lonely mission.

Then I met @chelsie_shot , and soon after, @bowlingallie212 , & @jcappiello who welcomed me with open arms.

I finally found like-minded people and learned SO much more about animal welfare, the carriage industry, and what it takes to create meaningful change.

What once felt like standing alone on a sidewalk became something much bigger. I’m incredibly proud of these individuals and the countless advocates who have dedicated years to this cause.

And now, we may finally be getting somewhere!

HERE’S WHAT’S HAPPENING! 🐴

On Thursday, October 22nd, the NYC Council is scheduled to vote on Romanch’s Law (Intro. 943-A), legislation that would phase out NYC’s horse-drawn carriage industry by June 1, 2028.

The legislation honors 18-year-old Romanch Mahajan, who tragically lost his life following a runaway carriage incident in Central Park this past June.

This is about animal welfare, absolutely. But it’s also about public safety. Our streets and parks belong to children, families, pedestrians, workers, and animals alike.

A million trillion thank-yous to @nycmayor , Council Speaker @speakermenin (my very own Council member! 😊), and everyone who has worked tirelessly for this moment.

HERE’S HOW YOU CAN TAKE ACTION! 🚨

🐴 Contact your representative to share your views on Romanch’s Law (Intro. 943-A) before October 22. Raise your concerns about animal welfare, public safety, and the transition for workers.

🐴 STAY INFORMED. Read the legislation, follow the vote, and share this information!
