Join us for a special preview of The Cheryl Hauser Effect, featuring never-before-seen clips from the documentary, followed by a community conversation about dementia, autonomy, VSED, and end-of-life choice.

Wendy Longacre Brown and Sarah Longacre will share their mother Cheryl Hauser’s story, followed by a panel with:
• Dr. Hope Wechkin, Evergreen Hospice Physician and VSED Researcher
• Crystal Cannon Flores, The Grateful Death®, specializing in VSED and MCF
• Robb Miller, Co-chair of the National VSED AD Committee and Executive Director Emeritus of End-of-Life Washington

Participating Organizations + Resource Tables:
• End of Life Washington
• A Sacred Passing
• Known Wishes
• VSED Resources Northwest

Each organization will have a resource table, giving attendees an opportunity to learn more, ask questions, and connect directly with organizations offering support and information around end-of-life care and VSED.

Because the film is still in post-production, this is a unique opportunity to see the work in progress and connect with VSED specialists, end-of-life professionals, and community resources.

We are also actively fundraising to raise the remaining funds needed to complete the film and make it available for public education.

What a joy and honor to work with this amazing group of humans. We filmed a mock Medical Aid in Dying day of ingestion to help folks see what it can be like. Thank you thank you @a_sacred_passing and thank you for honoring my wishes to be shrouded with clown nose and kazoo.

Today would be my brother’s 45th birthday. He used to ask me questions that felt like mirrors, wanting to know the WHY and the WHAT. WHY are you doing the things you do and WHAT are you doing with what you have? How can you take what you have been given in life, in whatever way that phrase fits you, and do something good in the world? He wrote in his journals, in what felt like a message to us all “Justify your life by making it worth something.”

This feels like the perfect day to announce a new monthly virtual offering for people who have survived the suicide of someone close to them. I am so grateful to be partnering with A Sacred Passing who will be co-hosting the events. This will be a space facilitated by volunteers from various mental health spaces, specifically for people with similar wounds to
grieve together collectively.

Faces of Fortitude began almost 9 years ago, as a space to share stories and grieve, and quickly became something much larger than myself, making it evident there is a huge need for tenderness and more empathy in and around suicide care. After years of buffing down my own rough edges around this type of grief, it now feels like the right time to shift into creating a nest of community care around these types of wounds.

Whether applying for the Faces of Fortitude project, attending the Suicide Loss groups or curated Suicide Suppers, I want it to feel like they are all connected through community. One informing and supporting the other. Sharing your story is NOT EASY and it lives in your body in so many different ways, having different types of support spaces around suicide creates more accessibility options as well as more places we can create lines of healing between each other.

Once upon a time, we all cared for each other in all ways, without capitalizing on that care. It was done naturally, in birth, in sadness, in joy and in death and all of the things in between. My hope is that we can find our way back to each other through these portals of collective grief, and remember to simply care for each other again. For more info or to sign up please visit my bio.

Sorry to be all asky-y asky…. But can someone who knows someone ask them buy this for me. I’m on my shit again. Space for the loves of the people we care for to go, a place for community members to be….a place to make art, tend animals, be fed, garden, forest bathe, to dance and to wail. To laugh, to cry, to sleep… a place for us to exist.

It could be one person, 3 people, 6 people… please help a witch keep making meaningful change in the lives of people.

Today starts the small group gatherings at @a_sacred_passing . I am so excited to open the home to community wanting to learn the ways of crochet. Whether you're hoping to learn an art that your elders once knew or you want to become the stitch making Tia in your family- the room will be full of soft music, snacks, candles and hands making magic. Maybe even some storytelling and skill exchanges.

The biggest cheers to you, Sally Louise Bailey. Thank you for this space that hugs and dares us to slow down, to watch, listen, and love.

✨️Address and dates on flyer. Yarn provided, and lots of hooks to share. We have library books to browse for inspo and take-home beginner patterns. ALSO, through March 15th, we will be offering a safe and caring space to drop off any unused yarn from projects left behind.
