Their is so many people in this world that live with invisible illnesses every single day. Just because we might look fine some days and other days you can see how much pain were in etc. Doesn’t mean we’re faking. Invisible illnesses are real. A lot of us suffer in silence most of the time. If we choose to go out and have fun and hang out with friends most of the time are symptoms flare up the next day. We all have been through so many doctors not believing us and saying it’s all anxiety etc. we’ve all been through so many tests, procedures, surgeries, doctors appointments, ER visits, and hospital admissions. We all have been through severe medical trauma or medical PTSD. We all have had to advocate so hard for ourselves but through everything we’ve gone through and had to endure were not giving up. Were still fighting this fight. So incredibly proud of each and everyone of you who are going through this. Your never alone going through this 💕thank you to all the incredible warriors who helped spread awareness for invisible illnesses 💕@bleanna68 @kayla.rreis @zoes.fight @sickwithsamantha @disabled.dinosaur @tyschronicadventures @scoliosiswarrior_charlee28 @chronically_uncomfortable @tamzfight @heidis_2.0 @annabeltimneyx @poodleprovinghope @living.with.annabelle @chronically_madi @big_elle @emma.ring_5 @mikayla_and_fnd

Hey there! I’m Grace Carnefix and I have suffered from multiple chronic illnesses and compressions for 5 years now. I was 14 when I first started having concerning symptoms—I was in karate at the time and suddenly lost feeling in my back and arms. I would later go on to be misdiagnosed 3 times until my x-rays exposed extra cervical ribs crushing my nerves. I was then properly diagnosed with #ThoracicOutletSyndrome and had 4 surgeries for it. Between the first two #TOS surgeries
I would go onto have a knee surgery followed by the next 2 TOS surgeries. I was then diagnosed with #EhlersDanlosSyndrome, a #connectivetissuedisorder. #EDS is the cause for many of my other medical issues. I later tore my meniscus and had surgery for it. Many of my surgeries have failed, but I haven’t given up hope. Last year I was diagnosed with #MALS, #endometriosis, #RenalNutcrackerSyndrome, and #POTS.
It’s been a hard 5 years—I’ve had many doctors who didn’t believe me or mistreated me. They gaslit me into thinking I couldn’t possibly have these rare diseases. But I do. I’ve learned how to be an advocate for myself and encourage others like me to use theirs. My
illnesses have taken a lot from me—college, living a normal teenage life, and just getting to live carefree. I had to grow up and learn to save my tears for my car. I learned how to explain each ache and pain to doctors so they could help. I learned how to deal with the severe #depression and #anxiety that came with it. However, I’m here to tell you there’s hope. I’ve had 9 surgeries now, with partial failures., and successes. I wouldn’t change things for the world. I have the best
support system and have found a great team of doctors who believe and affirm me. Never give up!

Its okay if Valentine's day is hard for you
♡
Valentine's day can remind us of people or relationships we've lost. It can also remind us of the difficulties of finding the right person, who loves us for us and accepts our illnesses. Valentine's day can remind us of the people that didn't support our gender identity or sexuality. Valentine's day is the holiday for those in relationships and when your not it... this holiday can be hard.
♡
But have you ever celebrated a Galentine's?! If this Valentine's your feeling a little out of place, call up some if your friends, cook dinner, bring flowers and chocolates, enjoy a night of fun, love and support from your most important people.
♡
Take care of yourself today and allow yourself space if you need it
♡
Love all my Galentine's!! You guys are the best!

Bye 2021 👋

This year has been filled with a lot of firsts. But there was also a lot of pain and struggles along the way too.

This year I got my EDS diagnosis and celebrated my first EDS awareness month! I created this account and made some amazing friends! I got to celebrate my first chronic disease day, July 10th! I celebrated my second dysautonomia awareness month! I got my first picc line placed! And I participated in my first ever research study!

But among these wonderful things loomed reality. We were and are still living in a pandemic. I got my booster shot just a few months ago, and got all of my covid vaccines just this year. I have struggled with my mental health as the world has been shut down and I more isolated than usual. College hasn't been the same and neither have any schools for that matter. Tensions are high everywhere, and nevermind those already living with anxiety in any form.
This year has created division when what we need most is unity. This year has created hate when we need love. This year has created suffering when we need security. But in the midst of all the chaos three things remain... this pandemic will end, a new year will start and tomorrow will be a new day.

Happy New Year's Eve! ✨
