Pleae Read!!! From the Ft. Worth NWS...Severe Storms Wednesday A quick reminder to sign up for CodeRed Weather Alerts, and the Outdoor Warning Sirens (OWS)are not only for tornadoes, they can be set off in the event of 70+ mph winds, or hail in excess of 1.0 inches. Our EOC (Emergency Operations Center) will be monitoring these storms as they approach Midlothian. https://public.coderedweb.com/CNE/en-US/CCFA63C87D0E The following is from the Fort Worth office of the National Weather Service. Bottom Line: Some strong to severe storms are expected across the area on Wednesday, beginning late in the afternoon and lasting into the night. Overview: No major changes were made to Wednesday’s forecast, with fairly widespread thunderstorms expected across most of the area. Storms should develop ahead of a dryline on Wednesday afternoon (likely around or after 4 PM) and will continue into Wednesday night as the system moves east. Initial storms will have the potential to become strong or severe rather quickly, with large hail being the primary threat. A tornado threat may also materialize if storms remain isolated into the evening hours. Storms will eventually organize into a line as they move towards the I-35 corridor and eventually into East Texas later Wednesday evening. This will cause the main hazard to transition to damaging winds, with possibly a tornado threat as well. The flood potential will be limited by the scattered nature of storms and a fairly fast storm motion, but isolated instances of flash flooding are still a possibility. What We Are Certain Of: • Hail will be the primary hazard, with some significant hail exceeding 2 inches possible. • Sometimes with a dryline setup there can be uncertainty about the “cap” and whether storms will be able to develop. For this event, confidence is high the cap will be broken and that storms will occur. • Storms should eventually grow upscale into a line or complex as they move east of I-35 which will increase the threat for damaging winds. What We are Less Certain Of: • The exact position of the dryline on Wednesday afternoon is uncertain which will determine where storms initially develop
