Curl Academy Denver lead by @darkmadonna and @aaronscottlacy was such a beautiful reminder that education is about so much more than technique. Of course we talked color, wet vs. dry cutting , and different approaches to curlyhair but some of my favorite moments were the conversations around how we serve our clients, especially those with tighter curl patterns. We talked honestly about time, detangling, policies, language, inclusivity, and the realities of working behind the chair. Not to decide who is doing things “right” or “wrong,” but to hear how other stylists navigate the same situations and learn from one another. Sometimes working behind the chair can feel like being in a bubble, and there is so much value in being in a room with people who understand the work, challenge your thinking, share perspective, and remind you that you’re not navigating it alone. So grateful for the conversations, the connection, and everyone I got to learn alongside these two days.

What I love most about Innersense is the people. You prolly thought I was gonna say the products, didn't you? 😂 Don't get me wrong, that's how I found Innersense and why I fell in love with the brand. But, from the stylist side, you get another perspective. The view of an industry that is often petty and judgmental. There's often this weird feeling that people are protecting their techniques, their information, their clients, and their success. As if they're afraid that you could take everything they've worked for from them with nothing but a simple glance. It's an industry where it can feel like as someone else gets better, there is less room for you. And yet, from the very first day I stepped into Innersense's spaces, people made room for me. They told me they were proud of me. That they'd been watching me for years. Even when I was still in cosmetology school and felt completely out of place. Even when my career didn't happen in the "right" order. Most stylists graduate cosmetology school and then figure out how to build a business. I did that backwards. I'd spent the better part of a decade building Consciously Curly before I even thought about going to cosmetology school. The day I graduated, I went directly into running a thriving business. Looking back, I probably wouldn't have had the confidence to do that without this community in my corner. Not just cheering for me, but guiding me. Handing me their personal phone numbers on the very day we met and letting me know I could call anytime. Not because they had to. But because they believed in me. Over the years, some of them have become my best friends and confidants. They've helped me skip years of trial and error. Given me information that took them years to figure out, freely. It's because of this community that I've been able to quantum leap. Because I know I'm not alone. And because I know there is enough room for all of us. I can celebrate another stylist and genuinely mean it. I can ask a question without feeling like I'm not good enough. I can be in a room surrounded by people who are further ahead of me and not feel intimidated. I feel inspired. I feel like I belong.

A weekend well spent learning, creating & getting inspired💇🏼‍♀️ We attended Disrupting Pattern in San Francisco, a hands on class focused on working with all hair patterns, textures and shapes, diving deeper into products, tools, styling and cutting techniques. There’s always something new to learn, and bringing that knowledge back behind the chair is the best part. 💟 Continuing to learn so we can continue giving our clients the very best! #bfh2tsalon #CurlyHairSpecialist #CurlyHairEducation #ContinuingEducation #CurlyHairStylist

I don't think I've ever been to a class that has so fundamentally changed the way I view not only curls, but hair care as a whole. @kiathecurlconsultant and @aaronscottlacy really did their big one with Disrupting Pattern!! Over two days in San Francisco I was so challenged and learned so much from our instructors as well as our models and fellow attendees. I am so eternally grateful, and would seriously recommend jumping on this class if you're lucky enough to have these two come to a city near you! @_dawndevine styled by @filomena.bparlor and I under the instruction of @kiathecurlconsultant @withkriday styled by @kiathecurlconsultant photographed by me! if you've had your picture taken by me you'll be familiar with the posing lol

Always learning, always growing 🌿💛 We had Aaron & Courtney join us for an Innersense education, diving into product knowledge, curl wash day techniques, diffusing, and Aaron’s consultation process. We love continuing our education to better serve every guest who sits in our chair!
