AAS/
STOOLS - 9/26-12/5/2026

An exhibition curated by @a83_inst, @barkowleibinger, and @pinupmagazine

STOOLS brings together 44 stools by Berlin- and New York-based architects and designers. Ubiquitous throughout a designer’s career, the stool’s modest scale, material range, and fluctuating utility make it a revealing design problem. Around a large table on Grand Street, provocations from both cities engage ideas shaping design now. STOOLS is a sequel to Hocker, curated by @barkowleibinger in Berlin in 2025.

Metropolitan Melange /AAS
eco-friendly premium colours for interiors

The Metropolitan Melange palette by AAS is based on a correlation between the blue sky and its reflections in contemporary architectural elements. Mirror images and opalescent glass, satin stainless steel and matte aluminium, absorption properties of concrete—the chosen materials are intricately connected to today’s architecture and are deeply embedded in AAS’s design language. By analysing the phenomena of reflection and absorption of the blue sky on these materials, AAS has developed a palette of 18 colours ranging from vibrant sky blues to warm concrete greys.
The process of describing each material’s spectrum has been conducted methodically by selecting three tones for each material: the base colour, the shadow tone, and a highlight. These tones are intended to interact with the natural sky.
