#commonthreads ✷ A look back at the opening

Last Monday, October 5th, we opened Common Threads, a collective exhibition born from the dialogue between students of the University of Rochester and EnsAD, on both sides of the Atlantic. Thank you to everyone who joined us for an evening of threads, gestures, and encounters ✧

At the heart of the exhibition, a large collaborative quilt, created during workshops led by Abbey Muza and Orsina Visconti. Made from Supima Cotton fabrics naturally dyed by the students of the University of Rochester, it was shaped together with Constance Bailleul, Shaima Bel Hadaoui, Candice Billon, Tziporah Braun, Ella (Bug) Cartwright, Valentine Challe, Kyan Grimm, Kevin He, Maris Kelly, Alice Koskas, Amanda Lee, Rosalyn Li, Sokunpanha Ly, Mica McCollough, Aymée Mosselmans, Elena Nguyen, Anita Pacini, Lola Paulter, Anuhya Vemagiri, Ziyu (Annie) Yan, Kate Zhao, and Zichun Zhou.

Around it, the exhibition features works by Zuzanna Winiarska and Mathis Augustin, Kateryna Barras, Kenza Ka, Claudia Soares Rubio, Ella Springer, Karla Tobón Pumarada, and Amanda Ruofei Tong.

Thank you to each and every one of them, to Supima Cotton, and to the whole team who made this opening possible.

◎ On view through November 25, Mon to Fri, 11am to 5pm

Common threads is the name of the exhibit we've inaugurated last evening in the presence of Buxton Mydiette from Supima cotton, our guest of honor this past week at FEU to thank again for having provided the material for the collective quilt work "parcours de vie". The quilt artwork started at the University of Rochester where the Supima cotton was dyed naturally before being sewed and designed in Paris by students from the Ecole Nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs directed by Emmanuel Tibloux. The "parcours de vie" quilt workshop was possible thanks to Orsina Visconti who has helped former FEU artist & resident @abbeymuza we were lucky to have with us for a week to help the FEU culture team curate and prepare the exhibit. Many participants were present and had responded to the @fondationusa call for proposals around three themes : my perspective, my identity; between worlds, between cultures; and changing my reality into my dreams. Gratitude to all and to resident Domi for the awsome DJ set. #Collectivework #supima #ensad #rochesteruniversity #fondationdesetatsunis @citeinternationaleparis

In May, I wrote about Abbey Muza’s latest body of work for @sensusphilly issue 3.0. I have loved getting to know and work with Abbey during their time in Philadelphia—when I visited their studio last winter and saw these works in progress, I wanted to write about them immediately. Thank you for introducing us, @art_bumble 🩵
