Student in DePaul’s Croak Community Legal Clinic partnered with CARPLS to support exonerees at ABC Reentry’s inaugural Wrongful Conviction Day Resource Fair & Celebration, hosted by Loevy & Loevy. The event brought together organizations and professionals to connect returning citizens with legal assistance, housing, employment, health care, mental health support and other essential reentry resources. DePaul Law students helped prepare and execute powers of attorney, contributing to this collaborative effort to support exonerees as they rebuild their lives. @carplschicago @abcreentry

Still reminiscing on the impact, passion and strength I witnessed on Wrongful Conviction Day hosted by ABC Reentry, an organization dedicated to helping people succeed post-incarceration. I met the most inspiring individuals and genuinely left the event feeling so recharged. I lowkey rediscovered my love for taking pictures this day. 🥹 Something about holding a camera and letting people move and exist around me without direction made me feel like a journalist. And it was sooo fun.

I’m excited for more opportunities to volunteer for mission-driven organizations that make tangible differences in people’s lives. 🫶🏾

CARPLS had an amazing time at Wrongful Conviction Day with our partners at ABC Reentry! We held a Power of Attorney clinic with CARPLS staff and some volunteers from Depaul University College of Law, helping clients secure their future.

We’re grateful for opportunities like these to support organizations that empower individuals and advocate for second chances.

In recognition of Wrongful Conviction Day this week, we’re sharing the opening two minutes of Post Conviction.

The film opens with a pattern. Many of the men you see here are still incarcerated, still fighting their cases, and still waiting to be heard.

Their stories reveal allegations of abuse connected to retired Chicago police Lt. Anthony Wojcik, whose name appears across multiple cases spanning years.

We’re excited to share that Post Conviction is an Official Selection of the 2026 San Quentin Film Festival, the first film festival to take place inside a prison.

And it goes beyond San Quentin. Through the festival’s partnership with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, we’ll have the opportunity to make Post Conviction available to people incarcerated in every California state prison.

After five years making this film together, it means a lot to us that people who know this fight firsthand will have the chance to see it.
