Friday flatlay ✨🦋

I just love that moment when you take off the dust jacket and reveal the naked hardcover underneath 😍✨

These are some of my favorites! Which one catches your eye the most? ✨

I’m tagging some of my friends to create a naked hardcover flatlay 🤭📚 Show me your favorites! 🫶🏻

A guide to an agent’s guide to- it’s a list but this sounded funny in my head 😅 one day, I would love to do one of these!

💬 QOTD: what is your book’s title or project name? — I’ve got Thornstone (book 1) & Flowfire (book 2); I’ll be doing a title reveal this year 👀 it’s gonna be an adjustment considering how long I’ve had it as project Thornstone, lmao.

The only thing the dragon of the woods feared was the Valkyrie, for all of heavens might came with her - not an angel of mercy, but of judgement.

I was thinking a lot about texture while I was here. I began trying to describe the places I was seeing and how they made me feel, then I'd apply it to my writing. I had so many walks in nature during this trip before putting in hours of work on my manuscript in this lovely place.

Last week I traveled to Oregon and (finally) met so many wonderful and talented authors. It was such a productive week that provided me with so much clarity during revisions and I'm so excited that the story I worked on during the retreat will be ready for beta readers soon!

Here are some of my favorite moments from the WWTS week 1 writing retreat.

Just spending some quiet morning moments thankful for the magic that comes from surrounding yourself with other creatives.

For two years, 2020-2022, I didn’t have a “home base.” My little family (partner + cat) moved every thirteen/fourteen weeks for work and our entire life could fit in the back of our F-150. If you’ve been here for a while, you remember the days of me Tetrising our kitchen in to one storage box, vacuum sealing our clothes, and writing in the passenger seat on forty hour cross-country car rides. You might also remember the “Okay, but where are you?” that came with that time. It felt very hard to make friends because I was never anywhere for long. We were far from our family, our friends, and while we forged some lifelong relationships along the way, it was a learning experience in the value of community.

I already had a few great (🖤) writing friends in Washington that I was either lucky enough to meet before we left or who I connected with afterward, but moving home completely changed everything. There are so. many. writers here. And a strange and suspicious amount of WWTS alumni, people whose hearts I see and whose stories I adore.

If you’re a writer or artist struggling for a sense of support, I can’t stress enough the importance of going to events, reaching out to others, and putting yourself out there. I did Writing With The Soul and have found friendships there I didn’t know I needed, and there are so many resources for different communities out there! I also want to say if you need a friend, my door is always open.

I’m so very thankful for this corner of internet and pocket of my world that has grown to be such a major, important part of my life. 💫

2023 held some of the highest highs and the lowest lows, but it also brought me closer to this writing community and for that, I’m forever grateful for this year. It will always be the open bookend of my journey to becoming an author, waiting to be filled with volumes of adventures to come. Thankful to all of you who have been there along the way ✨🤍

Writing With the Soul: Storytellers Retreat 2023

I’m still floating on clouds from this magical week. 90 seconds doesn’t do @dunskeyestate and their warm and welcoming family justice, or the incredible experience that @adrienneyoungbooks has found and fostered within this community.

We were so lucky to be in the midst of @stephanie_garber @maryepearson @ashwrites and @kristindwyer, and to have them share their knowledge, expertise, laughs, tears, and true vulnerability with all of us.

I will forever hold a place in my heart and memory for this small snippet of time that was over far too soon. Thank you to all for the other ~40 enchanting women that helped make this experience so life-changing.
