Not sure what the heck I am doing and why I even signed up for Dance For Me (DFM) 2026 happening in less than a month. Woke up with the worst lower back / R hip pain but told myself to go and work on this thing 🥲🫠.

Thanks to @abletoact , otherwise I'd likely end up performing in flats / demi-pointe (maybe that's a great idea 💡 too !). No stamina to run the entire variation despite it being a pretty short one !

Small details worked on between 2 classes so far. Key differences between A and B :

1. For B : the Left leg goes on fondu as the Right leg lowers via an enveloppë -> coupé. This is the correct but harder version. Prior to my 2nd class yesterday, I had 'cheated' without lowering the Left foot en fondu.

2. Despite the 'harder' B version, I think my timing is better ?

3. Both versions still require more upper body, epaulement and flowy arms.

One more class next weekend before DFM FDR on the 1st Nov. Highly doubtful I'd ever get there 🤔😔😃

Will this be on your wishlist for the holidays???

These shoes have been around for a few years but I finally took the plunge over the summer and ordered them during a sale. These shoes are so in demand that it took 2 months to fulfill my order 🥹

But I finally have them! And can't wait to frolic around in them 🥹

Ballet power at the first Foot Health Symposium in Dortmund.

On 10 October I was invited to the symposium at the Westfalenhallen, organised by Halfmanns: podiatrists, foot health professionals and the dance world in one room.

Guest speaker Dr. med. Elisabeth Exner-Grave spoke about the foot in sport and dance: functional changes in dancers, and how early functional diagnostics can help prevent faulty loading.

It was a joy to meet Jaš Otrin and Eliza Morozova from @ballettdortmund, Dimas Verzani of Rumpf / @sodancagermany , Christiane Böhm of @dance_hub_munich , and of course Elisabeth @elisabeth.exnergrave there.

At the trade fair, designs like act’ble and Alina by SoDanca showed that even the look of the pointe shoe is being rethought.

My takeaway: healthier pointe work is getting more attention. It takes medicine, foot health, shoe design and the ballet studios and educations talking to each other.

Thank you, Melanie Halfmann @half.manns and team, for the invitation.

Which topics should podiatrists and dance professionals discuss more often?
