How do you go from competitive bodybuilding to opening a bakery? Simple—I decided subpar cheat treats were no longer welcome. In all seriousness, a beautiful mentor of mine @abney_harper recommended I read Untamed by Glennon Doyle, and it shifted something in me. It helped me let go of the version of myself I had outgrown and make space for the life I was truly meant to live. The truth is, Dolce Amore was always part of the plan. I just never believed it would actually fit into my life. Looking back now, I can see that every closed door was making room for the right one to open. “The building of the true and beautiful means the destruction of the good enough.” Funny how life works. Sometimes the things you think you’re losing are actually leading you exactly where you’re supposed to be. #DolceAmoreBakery #WomenInBusiness #FollowYourPurpose #SmallBusinessJourney #Untamed

where do I even begin??? What started as a little hobby turned into something I never thought was possible. I used to believe having my own storefront was simply too big of a dream. When other little girls were planning their weddings, I was imagining my pink bakery and dreaming about what it would look like one day. Fast forward to now… and I’m living it. Through the growth, connections, and opportunities EHL has brought into my life, that dream didn’t just stay a dream—it became reality. But none of this happened alone. To my husband, Joshua—thank you for never once telling me my dreams were too big. Thank you for cheering me on, believing in me when I doubted myself, and standing beside me through every late night, every risk, and every leap of faith. To my family—thank you for teaching me everything I know and guiding me every step of the way. Thank you for spending countless hours helping me move heavy equipment, setting up the bakery, and showing up whenever I needed an extra set of hands. Growing up in a bakery gave me a foundation that I carry with me every single day, and this dream would not have been possible without your support. And to my mentors, Abney and James—thank you for not only believing in my vision, but for helping me bring it to life in such a real, tangible way. Thank you for teaching me business strategy, structure, and how to actually build a brand behind the dream. You helped me turn creativity into a real, sustainable business and guided me through making decisions that shaped what Dolce Amore is today. And to all my friends outside of EHL—thank you for being my constant support system, for always showing up for me, and for watching me grow through every season of this journey. @tatums_toppers made me the most beautiful balloon towers. @jamieclouatre and @angelle_j brought me the most beautiful flowers🤍🤍 Thank you @shefdress for my pink chef coat 🩷🩷 This is simply the little girl in me watching her life finally catch up to the dreams she carried for so many years. And for that, I am forever grateful. 🤍

Just a girl making her dreams come true!!! Everybody, meet @the_kk_brunet, founder and owner of @dolceamore_cafe, now located at 206 Lake Drive in Covington. Last year when we were spiraling, trying to figure out how to pivot after the blow from Sucré, this earth angel showed up (thank you @empowerher_life) at the same networking party. We met, talked for hours and she started supplying the most beautiful products to our stores. Her dream as a 2nd generation baker was to have her own shop. Well now she does. @dolceamore_cafe is sitting pretty in the space Sucré used to be in Covington. Northshore, you are in for the sweetest surprise!! Everyone, please follow her, support her, and indulge in the beautiful desserts she bakes with so much love!! Here’s to you, Kristen! It’s an honor and a privilege to witness your dream come true!! We love you!! Go get ‘em!! You are a beautiful powerhouse!! 🤍🤍🤍🤍

A love letter to 2026💌 My dearest 2026, I am so very thankful you are here. Your predecessor was not very nice to us. Frankly, she beat the shit out of us. Nevertheless, we took the blows, learned the lessons, licked our wounds, counted our blessings and pulled ourselves back up. You, on the other hand, hold so much hope and promise. We look so forward to getting to know you and all of the change you will bring. The projects, the growth, the changes you have promised our businesses fill me with excitement and hope. So thank you. And I love you. ❤️, Abney

Neither my bolognese nor I are getting an A+ in visuals today (I’m a little under the weather this weekend), but the flavor gets an A+++. This is the perfect lazy-Sunday sauce — save it and make it. This video is a little rambling because I am an utter mess today but I got it done and the sauce is out of this world! Full disclosure: this is technically a beef ragù, not a classic bolognese (missing pork + milk and a bit heavier on tomato), but it is absolutely delicious. Recipe (scaled down for you): • 2 lbs ground beef • 2 Tbsp olive oil • Salt, pepper, red pepper flakes • 1 lb onions • 1/2 lb carrots • 1/2 head celery • Several garlic cloves • 2 cups red wine • 2 cups chicken stock • 28 oz crushed tomatoes Brown the beef slowly in olive oil with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes until deeply caramelized — take your time here. Purée onions, carrots, celery, and garlic. Add to the beef, season lightly, and scrape up all those gorgeous browned bits. Add the wine, simmer until mostly reduced, then add stock + tomatoes. Let it simmer on low for as long as you can. Serve over one of our Prima Après pastas with plenty of parm reg or pec rom. 🍝✨

So many kind people walk into Prima Après and ask where did this pasta and pavlova concept come from? The answer is it was born from fashion and an egg. My former restaurant @nancybyabney, thanks to @nancyonstsimons, was flanked on either side by fashion and home retail. It was a beautiful brand. My business partner and I traveled to Milan and Paris to buy for the fashion and home retail multiple times per year. I fell in love with the meringues in Paris and the pasta in Milan. When I came home to my restaurant and started making meringues with egg whites, I used the left over egg yolks for pasta. Covid forced the closure of our brand. And to make a very long story short, thanks to the brilliant business mind of my @jwvitrano, Prima Après was my pivot.
